How much longer must I try to stay off of the naproxen? I gave in and have taken an aspirin once a day for a week. Recovery from ultherapy is going well. My hands DO hurt though!
Answer: Ultherapy and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory agents Thank you for your question.I give my patients ibuprofen 30 minutes before Ultherapy and recommend that they take it for another dy.I have done Ultherapy since 2010 and don't think that a small dose is deleterious or reduces its effectiveness.Read my Ultherapy ebook on the link below.Dr. Karamanoukian

Answer: Taking aspirin or anti-inflammatories after Ultherapy Most providers will recommend stopping aspirin 10-14 days prior to the procedure and other anti-inflammatories at least 3 days prior. This is to reduce the risk of bruising, but are there are reasons to discontinue these medications? The simple answer is, YES!It has been shown that these products slow wound healing considerably. It is believed that this is a result of an increased level of tumor necrosis alpha. As Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy to create a thermal injury which requires healing, it is possible that taking these products will have an effect on the final outcome. The real answer is, WE DON'T KNOW. I have not seen any studies showing that patients do the same, better, or worse when taking these products during the healing phase. Therefore, if possible, it is best to avoid these products and take Tylenol if needed. For how long? We don't know, but the first 3 months appear to be most important.Reference:IUBMB Life. 2000 Dec;50(6):391-5.Aspirin ingestion impairs oral mucosal ulcer healing by inducing membrane-bound tumor necrosis factor-alpha release.Slomiany BL, Slomiani A.

Answer: Ulthera and preop meds Hello. I usually recommend patients avoid meds that can increase their risk of bleeding for 2 weeks prior to the procedure. This includes NSAIDS, ASA, green tea, and other supplements that can increase the risk of bleeding. Afterwards, these meds can be taken again.

Answer: Ultherapy Dear Draguignan,In our practice, we request patients to limit their intake of aspirin containing products and NSAIDS for 2 weeks prior to the procedure. This is to minimize possible bruising associated with local injection and the actual treatment. However, we have no limits after the procedure. I would call and ask your provider for specifics.
