I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

I do not recommend people travel long distances for elective surgical procedures.
People do not seem to understand the importance of having multiple in person consultations, the need for in person postoperative care, how many people had serious concerns after surgery, that complications actually do happen or the number of people who will end up needing revision surgery.
Ideally your infection should’ve been diagnosed much sooner by your plastic surgeon.
The treatment should have involved bringing you back to surgery, placing you under general anesthesia and removing all infected grafted fat.
You are lucky that you healed, without any worse disfigurement or dying.
The infection should’ve been managed actively on a regular basis by your plastic surgeon. Perhaps it was.
When infections happen, the outcome of the fat transfer procedure is going to be very different than what was intended. A significant amount of grafted fat as well as your own tissue was lost because of the infection. There’s most likely a substantial amount of tissue necrosis and scar tissue in the area.
It appears your infection is now gone and you need to wait sufficient amount of time for scar tissues, to mature, and your body be stabilized before considering any attempt at a secondary procedure.
Infections are not common with this procedure, but they do happen from time to time, and when they do, they often leave disfiguring outcomes. It is simply an inherent risk patients take when having this procedure. Developing an infection is generally not related to how the procedure was done, but simply happens on a certain percentage of patients.
