I had my BBL in 2016 by a very reputable doctor in NY but was extremely unhappy with my results. I saw him for a revision but was nervous to go through with the procedure. Is this possible to fix with cool sculpting?
Answer: Can asymmetrical results 7 years after BBL be corrected with cool sculpting? Hello @rkotly, thank you for your question. Have in mind that Cool sculpting is a non-surgical fat reduction procedure that works by freezing and destroying fat cells in targeted areas. While it can be an effective option for reducing excess fat in certain areas, it is not typically used to correct asymmetrical results after a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). For that you will need a BBL revision to achieve the desired symmetry and balance. However, it is important to note that revision surgery can be more complex than the initial BBL procedure. It's best to consult with a board-certified and experienced plastic surgeon to perform revision BBL surgery to discuss your specific case and determine the most appropriate course of action to address the asymmetry. Answer: BBL results Dear rkotly, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Fix for asymmetry after BBL… Coolsculpt is NOT the answer. You are in good company with many others who had high hopes for BBL but instead received disappointing results (lumpiness, unevenness, lack of projection in the central and/or lower buttock, post-deflation sagging, etc.) as most of the fat melts away. It is not quite as much the quality of the doctor nor liposuction technique but rather the quality of the procedure that is a large part of the problem. Thus, going back for additional rounds of BBL most often produces the same disappointing results but at another financial loss. Buttock implants, however, provide a more reliable, predictable, relatively safe, and permanent result, especially for adding projection to the buttock and often smoothing out lumpiness. Occasionally a lower buttock tuck may be advantageous for lower buttock fold asymmetries and/or sagging. When considering buttock implants make sure that the surgeon is going to be placing the implants within gluteus muscles , (a.k.a. “intramuscular pocket”), and that they are using anatomically correct, oval-shaped implants, such as Stanton Anatomic ®️ implants. Please keep in mind that an extremely few number of board-certified plastic surgeons specialize in these buttock implants so be sure to consult with one that is reputable and experienced. Unfortunately you may have to travel long and far away from home to find this particular surgeon. Glad to help.

Answer: BBL results When it comes to plastic surgeons, famous, there’s not always a “talented. I have found that those who engage in most self promotion tend to not be the technically best providers. The best plastic surgeons I know typically do not focus on the reputation but instead focus all the reference on patient care. I in order to make an assessment and the outcome of a procedure we always need to see proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have before and after pictures, then contact your surgeon and ask them to forward the pictures they took. Once we have before, and after pictures, we can begin to have a better understanding of what can be done to improve the outcome. Coolsculpting is an ineffective and is not recommended for any type of revision work after liposuction or fat transfer I suggest having multiple in person, consultations with local, board-certified plastic surgeons, who have extensive experience with the BBL procedure. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before and after pictures. Being shown a handful of preselected images, representing the best work of a providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like or how many of these procedures the surgeon has actually performed. For reference an experienced surgeon should have no difficulty showing you a minimum of 50 sets of before and after pictures of commonly performed procedures like the BBL. I recognize that giving instructions on how to find the right doctor for the procedure is a bit after the fact. finding the right provider to do revision work is generally the same process as finding one for the primary procedure. The best surgeons and doing the revision work are generally the same doctors who do the best primary work. Poor outcomes from surgical procedures almost always require surgical intervention, if revisions are needed. I recommend patient start by having a minimum of five in person consultations when it comes to choosing a permanent irreversible body contouring procedure. There’s no correct number of consultations patients need to have to find the best provider. The more consultations you have the better the chance of finding the best provider. Patients need to take an active role in vetting the provider. This means asking providers to show more before and after pictures than their preselected images they use to show their best outcomes. Specifically ask providers to show you examples of excellent outcomes, average outcomes, and outcomes that did not turn out, as well as they had hoped. As providers specifically what the revision rate and revision policy is. Confidence and experience providers should not have an issue, showing you a variety of outcomes, and those who truly are experienced should have 100s or even thousands of before and after pictures to choose from. For a second opinion, consultations patients should always come prepared to bringing with them proper before and after pictures and a copy of your operative report from your first procedure. These should still be available from your surgeons office so surgeons are not obligated to keep medical records forever. Delivering consistent quality, liposuction and fat. Transfer result is more difficult than most people believe. Number of providers who are truly excellent at these procedures, and can deliver consistent quality outcomes, including making accurate assessments and deliver predictable outcomes is relatively few. When in doubt, slow down and schedule more consultations. I non-surgical approaches I’m not going to correct your outcome. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
