Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. Sun avoidance up to 1 year is the most important thing to do to prevent darkened scar.  You can use sun screen on the scar.  You can also try Mederma cream and silicone sheet, both can be purchased over the counter.  You can also try BioCorneum scar gel to improve the appearance of your scar.  Thank you

The scar creams do little to improve the appearance of scars overall.  You are best keeping the scars protected from sun exposure until they are no longer pink or red.  Otherwise, they may turn darker or browner and remain so indefinitely.
