Soft bulging area on right buttock after BBL. I had a BBL one month ago. (Photos)

Question

Soon I noticed a very soft bulging area on my right butt cheek. I am trying to find out what has caused this (I’m a nurse so I’m not looking to blame my surgeon. I really want to understand what happened) What is the usual treatment for this? I have been taping it down with medipore tape and sometimes it looks better and other times, such as in this picture, it appears worse. I have also noticed that the look of it has changed over the last month.

If you had an indented buttock shape in that area before, your surgeon likely tried to lift and round it out by separating the skin and filling it with fat. Now you have an area that is bulging. Discuss this with your surgeon to see how it maybe addressed.

A good candidate has enough fat available for transfer in the procedure. The amount of fat that can be transferred in a BBL depends on how much fat the patient has to harvest and the amount of space there is to move the fat into. It is recommended for the patient to have a BMI of 30 or less. If you are too thin, a Brazilian Butt Lift may not be possible.

Thank you for your question. As others have recommended, I would reach out to your surgeon. As you know, this could represent a collection of fluid or liquefied fat. If there is a collection of fluid, it needs to be drained. I would get in contact with them now.

Thank you for your question and photos. Based on these photos, the soft area could be a seroma or liquified fat. Discuss this with your surgeon, he/she might need to aspirate this. In any case, this is not a good result. The fat was not placed in the appropriate anatomical place. Your buttocks look very odd. You will loose volume over the next 1-2 months at which point your shape will not change. Good luck with your healing.
