Dear Diligent379032,breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small. You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
It would be best to bring a Dcup bra with you to your surgeon’s office so you can try on sizers. These are implants that you can place into your bra. That way, you can see whether 350cc would give you the look you’d like to achieve.
A more attractive result would be obtained with a breast lift. Just putting a large implant would make your areolas very large and would not be a long lasting result.
After I measure and discuss goals with my patients, we then look at pictures of women (my patients) with similar measurements with different size breast implants. They also get to see what they would look like when the breasts have fully dropped and fluffed and in clothes. You get to see actual results and the surgeon' s experience and not a virtual idea of what can be achieved. Women tell me that this process is very helpful in determining what is right for them. The technique I recommend is The Bellesoma Method. This will reshape your breast tissue creating upper pole fullness without implants, elevate them higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. Vertical scars are avoided, nipple sensation (in 95%) and the ability to breast feed are maintained. Later, fat transfers or small implants can be placed if additional volume is desired.Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.
One thing I have not seen mentioned is the effect of a heavier implant on your lift. In general, heavier implants put more stretch and weight on the tissues and can result in "bottoming out" over time. Sometimes this can occur in even a year. Much depends on the consistency of your breast tissues and elasticity of your skin. It's worth discussing with your surgeon what he or she will do to avoid this problem.
Thank you for your question and photos. An examination in person would be required to properly evaluate you and determine which implant would be most suitable for you. If you have confidence in your plastic surgeon then you should trust his or her recommendations. In my own practice, a 350 cc implant in the setting of a mastopexy would be considered large. Bra cup size is notoriously inaccurate and the most important way to achieve a desirable outcome is to select images of women's breasts you would like to aim for and share those with your plastic surgeon. Then, don't worry about bra sizes, as long as you are pleased with the final appearance your breasts. You simply go and shop for bras that are comfortable and look good, regardless of what the label says. Continue to do your research and make sure that you and your surgeon are on the same page with regard to goals and that you share similar aesthetics based on his or her Before and After gallery. Best of luck to you.

Hey, thank you for sharing. Based on the photos, you may need a slightly larger implant for a more full look. Getting to a D cup is hard to say, because each of the bra manufacturers use different sizes and often even in the same store 2 people may get different measurements. I usually like to do an exam, review goal photos, and then use virtual software to show you how a lift and different size implants will look on you. We can then use this to help pick a final implant size and profile.
The best range of sizes for your frame and tissue is based on measurements and not on bra sizes that vary widely. Go meet with a plastic surgeon.
Thanks for your question! I suggest reaching out to your surgeon and trying on the different implants to choose the size best for you. Best wishes!
Thanks for your question! Give your surgeon a call for guidance. You can see your family physician or gynecologist to have this looked at. Best wishes!
