Feeling a small lump near my right areola 4 months after breast augmentation. What could it be? (Photo)

Hi, I had a silicone 325cc, dual plan breast augmentation done from about 4 months ago. I went from an A cup to C! My recovery was perfect, no issues at all. I’ve just noticed a small lump near areola. It’s not showing on the breast, I can only feel it. No pain, but there’s some kind of difference feeling around this area. My surgeon is not located where I live, so he can’t examine me. Is it something I should worry about? What could that be please?

Any lump in the breast should be thoroughly examined.  Because you recently had cosmetic breast surgery it is likely a benign issue either with the implant or the surrounding capsule.  Nonetheless, I recommend you get a medical professional to evaluate it.

It could be your implant or a variety of things. I would suggest meeting with your medical doctor and being examined or going back to your surgeon.

If you are not able to visit with your plastic surgeon or a colleague you should make an appointment with your primary care physician or who you see for breast health.  After an examination it can be determined if anything further needs to be done.

A lot depends on what incision was used to place the implants. If the lump is close to the incision, then that would explain the lump if not all new breast lumps should be evaluated.
I generally do not recommend traveling long distances for elective surgical procedures. For routine breast care, you can probably follow up with your primary care doctor or OB/GYN.
