Thank you for sharing your question. In general most patients benefit from at least a couple of days or uneventful recovery before returning to work but this will depend on the exact procedure performed as well as the physical requirements required of your job. Talk to your surgeon about your obligations to get the best advice.
Typically, you can go back to a sedentary job, requiring brain, not brawn, within 3 days following gynecomastia surgery. Walking should not be an issue. Jobs requiring brawn could take anywhere from 1-2 weeks. You do not want to get a fluid collection or hematoma by resuming activities before you are healed. You would need to ask the plastic surgeon who performs you gynecomastia procedure if he or she thinks you will have enough energy, be painfree with Tylenol or equivalent, and be thinking clearly to return to work one day after the procedure.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Always follow the post op instructions of your surgeon who knows your health history and specific case. For my patients, since this is an outpatient procedure, the patient will return home the day of surgery. In the rare cases where a significant amount of tissue was removed, the patient will have drains in each breast for the drainage of excess fluids for a day or two after surgery.Patients can expect to have swelling and bruising on their chest for two to three weeks post-surgery. Discomfort can be managed with pain medication prescribed by the doctor. To help manage the appearance of scars, sun exposure and tanning beds should be avoided for six months, and an SPF with a minimum of 30 should be applied to the chest until the scar completely fades.Patients can typically return to a sedentary job after one week, and two weeks for a more physically demanding job. Moderate exercise (excluding weight lifting) can be resumed after two to three weeks. Chest and back exercises and weight lifting should be avoided for at least six weeks.
This is a question best answered by your surgeon. It's really going to depend on what type of surgery you are having and whether or not your job is strenuous. In general, I like my patients to take off a couple of days to a week before returning to work. Best of luck.
Your Gynecomastia condition can be treated and you can walk a day later and to go back to a desk job after 3 days.We have patients that do it friday and go back to work Monday. For evaluation and best results you need a surgeon who specializes in gynecomastia surgery.
Returning to work depends on a few factors - how extensive the surgery was, and how strenuous your job is. Generally, the patient can return to work in a week if there is not any strenuous activity - walking is fine. If there is a lot of lifting, then one usually has to wait two weeks or more until the tenderness and swelling has resolved.
Hi there. I wouldn't recommend returning to work for a few days depending upon the extent of your surgery and liposuction. If no heavy lifting is involved you may return to work in 2-3 days. Good luckBest, #drburnett #realself100
It really depends upon how invasive the surgery was. Many of my lipo patients can go back to light duty within a few days.
The return to work date would depend on whether you have liposuction alone or resection of the gland. Given that the procedure is performed under general anesthesia for the latter, I would anticipate that you would not be able to return to work on the day immediately following surgery. Normal walking is fine but not physical exertion.
I would advise you to follow your surgeon's advice and wait on the steroid injections. 7 weeks is still early in your healing process and yes, it can take up to a year for the scar to fully resolve. Best of luck.
Dear Igotemout, It is very early to judge your results one day after surgery as there could be a small fluid collection there or it could be swelling there that can oftentimes be misleading. You really should give yourself at least two months of healing time before you can make a judgment. I...
While revision can be performed sooner, it remains ideal to wait at least six months to give the residual swelling the opportunity to dissipate completely and the skin to redrape entirely to the new contour, thus allowing us to determine the best surgical maneuver and further minimize the risk o...
