Should I get steroid injections for my internal scar tissue development? Seven weeks after gynecomastia surgery? (photo)

I was operated for gynecomastia seven weeks ago. I wore my compression vest for four weeks, as told by the physician. Afterwards, the left side seems to have developed fine but the right side developed internal scar tissue so bad that it looks like gynecomastia again. I went to the physician for a check-up last week, he wants to wait for at least a year before steroid injections. Should I get a second opinion on this? I've read on internet forums that i should not wait too long with injections.

I would advise you to follow your surgeon's advice and wait on the steroid injections. 7 weeks is still early in your healing process and yes, it can take up to a year for the scar to fully resolve. Best of luck.

7 weeks is still very early in the healing process. you will continue to improve for close to 12 months. Steroids have risks and particularly melting fat and causing a sunken, depressed area which is very problematic. your surgeons advice is good and i would suggest you don't shop around since someone will put in steroids because they dont know better or just want to do something.david berman md
