Botox 7 days out. There is still movement on the upper forehead and between the eyes. Is this odd?

Hello! I had Botox injections in and around my forehead a week ago and while there is some freezing there is still movement on the upper forehead and between the eyes. I ave had this before and am usually not moving at all. It was 50 ml's or whatever. Is this odd?

You probably mean 50 units because 50 ml is a lot of volume. If you were treated in the forehead including the frown lines but not the crow's feet, 50 units is a good strong dose. I would not have any more injected until 2 weeks out because if the treatment you received last week starts to kick in and you receive additional doses in the forehead, there is a good chance you can have a droopy brow. If you still have a lot of movement 2 weeks out, you should consider that you you either have some resistance to Botox, had a bad batch or the dosage was misrepresented. You should check back with your treating doctor to find out what happened.

Botox is considered in full effect two weeks after injection.  I recommend waiting until that time to determine your final result.  If you are still having unwanted muscle activity, return to your injector for an evaluation.

It is not unusual to have incomplete results at times. One typically respond the same with the number of units but it is not written in stone. You should typically wait 10-14 days before considering a touch up.  This is not anything to do with the quality of treatment.  It can be incomplete if the product was not new and the products strength was reduced

Botox can take up to 2 weeks to fully kick in.  If you still have movement after 2 weeks, go back and talk to the physician who injected you.  Always seek treatment from a qualified physician.

Dear Ryanyoung429:This is not odd as therapeutic results from Botox are not fully seen until 2 weeks after treatment.  Follow up with your injector after 2 weeks whence further botox can be administered if deemed fit by your injector.  All the best.

It can take up to two weeks to see the full effect of Botox in the face.  It is normal to have some movement after one week.  Also depending on how much Botox was injected you may still have some movement or prefer it. I always bring back all of my Botox patients in two weeks to see the full effect and determine if more Botox is needed.  Best, Dr. Green

Personally, I find that no movement whatsoever is a disheartening result.  However, if that was your goal, then return to your injector for evaluation.  Botox can take more than a week to reach full efficacy.
