Will this bump or “horn” from Botox ever go away? I got it in December. (Photo)

Question

Stated Botox regiment in December. I have one “horn”, mid forehead, above my left eye. It’s hard, definitely under the muscle, not the skin. Harder than a cystic pimple and MUCH bigger. I have no symptoms of headaches or anything. Will it ever go away??

If you feel and see a painless, immobile, and bony bump on your forehead, it may be a benign exostosis that has become visible with forehead paralysis after Botox. Evaluation of this bump may be performed by a reputable facial plastic surgeon. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

It is unlikely that the bump was caused by Botox injections.  I have never seen this happen.  I suggest you seek evaluation/treatment for the bump by a qualified board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon.

It is highly unlikely that this bump is from Botox.  It may appear more noticeable now since there was probably a cyst there before the Botox and now that your skin isn't wrinkling it is more obvious.  Best, Dr. Green

It is highly unlikely that the injection actually caused the "bump" to arise.  I've injected thousands of patients with wrinkle blockers (Xeomin, Botox, Dysport) and have never seen one of these arise.  It is possible that this was uncovered by the relaxation of the forehead muscles in the area.  It could also be a sebaceous cyst.  See a plastic surgeon or dermatologist for evaluation.  Best regards, and sorry it has appeared.

I agree with some of the other doctors answering your question.   This is probably a fibroma or lipoma.  Typically they are in this location, feel hard and under the muscle.  However, this could be a small hematoma from the injection.  Most likely you would have had a significant bruise after the injection for this to be likely.  You need to be evaluated in person by a experienced Plastic Surgeon.
