I had botox when I didn't need it. When it dissolves, will my skin look more aged? I don't have any lines

Thank you for your question. Botox will not make you look aged. It will give you more a refreshed look. After Botox wears off, the skin goes back to where it was before. I hope this helps!

Botox does not cause any permanent skin changes or aging. Rest assured knowing that any effect of Botox will only last as long as Botox itself, which for most patients is between 3-4 months. In some patients, Botox can last up to 6 months. However, this is rare. 

When the results of your Botox or filler go away, there is no scientific evidence suggesting that it makes your wrinkles look worse. In fact, it should make you look better because the filler encourages your own collagen production, and the Botox relaxes your skin so that the creases aren't as pronounced. You should at least look like how you did before your treatment. I suggest you see your injector and view your before photos so you can compare your appearance.

when botox wears off in 3-4 months after injection, the skin is back to its normal.  there is no long term negative result to the skin from botox.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Hello dissapointed111,Thanks for your question.More than likely, when your Botox wears off, the skin should be normalized.  The problem is that you got filler injected which can stretch out thin skin like eyelid skin.  Additionally, the lymphatics around the eye that help manage eyelid swelling can be altered by the presence of injectible filler.  This can cause some problems with eyelid skin swelling worsening.  When the skin loses some of the swelling, there can be loose skin causing wrinkling.Eye creams with hyaluronic acid can temporarily fill the loose skin to hide the wrinkles.Good luck,Dr. Shah

Thank you for your question.All neuromuscular modulators (Botox, Xeomin, and Dysport) cause a permanent blockage of the release of the chemical that stimulates the muscle by the nerve.  This turns out to be only temporary because new stimulating fibers from the nerve grow to the muscle and will again activate the muscle movement.  This takes an average of about 4 months time.  The skin does not develop more wrinkles or stretch during this time.  While you may not have noticed wrinkles before the treatment, with good pretreatment photos I feel confident you would see them in the preop photos, and they in fact were improved with the medication.  That would explain why you now see them or notice wrinkles and why you have noticed the improvement with treatment.

Botox and its similar counterparts (i.e. Dysport, Xeomin) are injected underneath the skin and work at the muscle-nerve level to prevent wrinkling of the skin over the muscle. They are temporary medications that will not permanently affect the structure of the skin (wrinkles or thinner skin) from one injection. Because of this, wrinkles that are in the injection area are unlikely to be caused from botox and may benefit from a good skin care regimen.

The good news is that Botox will have completely worn off by 3-4 months. At that point your skin texture, muscle movement, lines, expressions will return to their normal state. Dear Dissapointed111, General rule for Botox is the good news is if you don't like it it goes away and the bad news is that people generally like it and it goes away...Neither Botox or the filler that was used stretches the skin and if you see some fine wrinkling as it wears off the maybe it was more effective than you thought.Good luck
