I am 61 yrs. old, olive skin and have lines around my mouth and some area's where my skin looks rough. There are so many Laser's out there as well as Chemical peels which I don't think a peel would work on my skin because of pigment issues. I've been told Halo, Scion and Co2 Laser. Any thoughts?
Answer: Treatment of Lines/Wrinkles As we get older we develop deeper wrinkles around the mouth and eyes. The Sciton Halo will do more subtle wrinkles and the best treatment from Sciton would be a contour TRL ablative laser. The CO2 Fraxel laser is similar in results to the contour TRL for an ablative resurfacing around the mouth and eyes. The more aggressive the treatment the longer the down time. Halo's can be dIled up to be more aggressive, the Contour TRL is more aggressive and a Fraxel CO2 is even more aggressive and again increases down time.

Answer: Halo vs. CO2 for Fine Lines and Skin Improvement Great question and thanks for providing pictures! Especially in olive skin, I far prefer Halo - if the settings are comparable, CO2 has a higher incidence of complications including hypopigmentation without better results to show for the risk. The healing process from Halo is also much easier.Given that, lines around the mouth are some of the deepest wrinkles to be addressed. Fractional laser, whether Halo or CO2 will offer only improvement, not resolution. In our practice, if patients are willing to handle a bit more downtime, we combine BBL, light full field resurfacing (Sciton) and Halo combined with PDO threads for more results with no more downtime, and then if there are fine residual lines, subtle filler with Volbella.

Answer: Halo and facial lasers Halo is a hybrid fractional laser made by Sciton (we were part of the development) Its a wonderful device to treat fine lines, wrinkles and pigment with very little downtime. Based on your photos you would get a great result with a Halo treatment. For deeper lines and wrinkles I like another Sciton product - the fully ablative erbium laser or TRL (tuneable resurdacing laser) but this has more downtime

Answer: See DR Steve Weiner in FL- HALO, CO2 vs Erbium lasers. ITs not about the device, its about the end goal. You are a candidate for all 3- namely CO2 fractional low density, erbium alone, or combination HALO with erbium and non ablative. Personally I prefer CO2 low density at your age. Your lines are dynamic. NO laser will remove these, special filling techniques, combined with micro botox either before or after the laser will help. A laser is only a device, HALO is excellent, but the method is more important. See Dr Steve Weiner in FL as he is an experienced laser operator, injector and a Board Certified Plastic surgeon. Another good dermatologist in FL is Dr Jeremy Green. Tell them Dr Davin Lim sent you. Brisbane, Australia.
