It looks like your belly button has necroses which can occasionally happen. I would advice oral antibiotics, regular showering and dressing changes and anticipate that it will take about 6 weeks to heal. Best of luck.
Every surgeon has different post op care instructions, I would tell my patients to keep it dry and covered with gauze and not to apply any ointments. It will heal in time.best wishes.
Dear vwood002,this type of wound is not uncommon after tummy tuck. It is usually caused by poor blood flow. I would suggest you to consult your plastic surgeon, follow your surgeon's instructions and keep your wound clean and covered. It can take few weeks or months for wound to fully heal. Thank you for sharing your question and photograph. The best treatment is to keep the area clean and covered with a thick emollient like Aquaphor and a non-adherent gauze. This will allow for your body to slowly heal itself from the inside-out. I would maintain close contact with your surgeon to ensure no further healing issues.
It is best to follow your physicians' instructions. If you are unhappy with their recommended treatment protocol then it is best to discuss it directly with them.
It would be best to have a non-adhesive covering for protection against infection. Each surgeon has his/her own protocols regarding post-op management and your surgeon would be your best resource of information regarding wound care.
Thank you for your question. Look like some healing issue. Keep it clean and cover with a non adherent gauze. Every physician has their preference of management. I recommend to follow your PS instructions for local wound care

Hello, and thank you for your question. The bulge you are seeing is either swelling or a fluid collection (seroma). These are both very common after tummy tuck, even at six weeks post-op. It is possible to determine fluid vs swelling by feeling the bulge: swelling feels hard/lumpy whereas fluid...
The short answer is no because a tummy tuck is considered a cosmetic procedure. There are cases where people have lost a significant amount of weight and have a large apron of skin hanging over the pubic area.. these patients with medical problems related to weight loss could qualify for a...
