I am wondering if this is normal that when I bend forward I get this dimple about an inch above my belly button and kinda a roll, would this indicate that the muscle repair in my upper abdomen didn’t hold? Or is it just some fat that I can burn off? Also I’m wondering about the kinda rolls I have on my sides that I never noticed much prior to my surgery, again is this just extra fat that I need to work off? I am 3 weeks post op, will my sides ever really be smooth?
Answer: Healing from surgery Thank you for your question. At 3 weeks, you are very early in the healing process. The fullness that you are seeing is most likely swelling. I would suggest wearing looser underwear though because you do not want that thick band to cause a contour defect because it is too tight. It can be too constricting and cause indents, as opposed to loose underwear that are just resting on the skin. Continue to follow your post-op instructions and good luck with healing. Stay patient, it takes time to see your final result. Swelling can last sometimes 6 months or longer.

Answer: Tummy Tuck Recovery Thank you for submitting your question and photos. You are still very early in the recovery process and have residual swelling. It can take up to a few months for the swelling to fully subside and allow you to see the final result. It is important to see your surgeon for regular follow up visits and discuss any concerns you have about the recovery process. Time and patience are your best friends right now. Best wishes on a speedy recovery and great result.

Answer: Rolls after tummy tuck normal? 3 weeks post op. It's too early to know at this point. It takes a good 3 months for things to settle and the swelling to resolve enough to get a real sense of what your final results will look like. It looks like its probably a pucker relating to a quilting stitch which should resolve, but if you are really concerned then book a follow up with your surgeon so they can reassure you. In terms of the sides, it looks like you did not have liposuction to the flanks, so its not likely those will change too much without some intervention, however not being the operating surgeon its impossible for any of us online to know exactly what was done and give advice that is completely accurate to your specific case. I'd suggest booking an appointment with your surgeon to be examined. Best of luck!

Answer: Rolls after tummy tuck normal? 3 weeks post op. (photos) All patients after tummy tuck will have loose skin when bending over, but so will most models and bodybuilders. Residual laxity is not uncommon in certain individuals after a tummy tuck. Swelling after a tummy tuck usually lasts 3 to 6 months, but most of the swelling is gone after a few weeks. Healthy people at their ideal weight should have the best overall recovery, but some of this will depend upon the surgical technique and adherence to postoperative protocols. It's too early in your recovery to be concerned.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Tummy tuck recovery Thanks for your post, and you're looking great overall! You are likely just swollen. I'd continue with the compression garments, scar massage, and slowly get back to activity. After 3 months, you will have a better idea of how things are going to look. Touch up liposuction is always an option as well. Best wishes.
