My advice to you is this....Don't ask about a tummy tuck because no insurance will cover it. Ask if your insurance will cover a Panniculectomy (the insurance version of a TT). Now have your primary card doctor document your problems with your excess skin. Do you have fungal infections within your excess skin, back problems, or other issues? Essentially, you need your Panniculectomy to be a medical necessity. If it truly is needed, there's hope for you. These procedures are hard to get covered for many reasons. Insurance companies need documentation which will mean your doctor will have to take pictures, do a pear-to-pear review, and you need one of the few plastic surgeons that accepts your insurance. Also your insurance needs to have a benefit for it.As you can see.... it's not easy but not impossible either. Even if your insurance covers it, it might not cover all of the expenses so just be prepared for this. Call you insurance company and ask for a list of plastic surgeons in network with your insurance that are in your area. This is an important step to get you started. I wish you luck!
A tummy tuck is considered a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by Medicare or other insurance. If you are experiencing medical issues I encourage you to visit with your primary care physician for an evaluation and treatment. If interested in a tummy tuck many surgeons can get you in touch with companies that provide medical financing.
The short answer is no because a tummy tuck is considered a cosmetic procedure. There are cases where people have lost a significant amount of weight and have a large apron of skin hanging over the pubic area.. these patients with medical problems related to weight loss could qualify for a panniculectomy which is a medically indicated procedure and very different from a tummy tuck. I would recommend you get a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who can determine which type of procedure would suit you bestWishing you all the bestAlain Polynice, MD, FACSNew York Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
A tummy tuck is a cosmetic procedure. Medicare will not cover it. Your surgeon can be accused of medicare fraud if she/he submits a cosmetic procedure for reimbursement. Sometimes panniculectomy can be covered, but that is a different surgery.
This question needs to be answered by your surgeon. She/He is most familiar with the details of your surgery, how you've been progressing through recovery, and your health history. Some surgeons suggest ibuprofen and other NSAIDs be avoided for a period of time after surgery, but this opinion...
Congratulations on your surgery! Yes you will be able to return to your previous activity level once fully healed. I advise patients with no complications they can begin low impact exercise after four weeks and return to strenuous activities after six weeks. It is important to go slowly when...
I know it is hard to be patient but more time is needed before judging your results. Swelling from surgery is common and expected and can take several weeks to resolve. Continue to closely follow the instructions from your surgeon and discuss any concerns. If needed, revisions can be done...
Scars may actually appear to worsen during the first three to six months as they heal, but this is normal. Expect it to take nine months to a year before your scars flatten out and lighten in colour. While they'll never disappear completely, abdominal scars will not show under most clothing,...
Immediately after surgery you may be a little slow to urinate due to the medications given. Once home and recovering you should be pretty close your normal urination schedule. Four to seven times a day is typical. If you are not you need to contact your surgeon.
I'm sorry to hear of all the issues you are having after your procedures. Any of the mentioned options can be used to detect seroma formation. One is not notably better than the other. Best wishes in finding resolution!
