Are brow lifts only able to lift mostly laterally, and medially minimally?

We age with lateral decent of our eyebrows. As such most people need the lateral portion elevated more than the medial portion of their brows. Hope that helps! Best of luck!

The supinator muscle of the eyebrow is at the end of the tail of the eyebrow and that is why when it is retracted, that area looks droopy. That is why the change is made in that area to recover the original shape. This is not about changing the features of the patient, but about enhancing the patient's features. Many modern browlifting techniques focus more on lateral brow lifts and you can alter how much is done medially by the extent of dissection which includes the option of leaving the medial brow unchanged. I personally prefer browlifting techniques that elevate the lateral brow much more than the medial brow and this seems to be the trend in the field as well. Changing the medial brow often changes your facial expression in an undesirable way (e.g. more surprised or concerned looks) whereas elevating the lateral brow does not have these kinds of effects on your perceived expressions.

In our practice, a brow lift involves lifting the entire forehead, both medially and laterally. There are many parameters to consider such as raising a low hairline, lowering a high hairline, softening the vertical and horizontal creases in the forehead, and softening the corrugator, frontalis, and procerus muscles in addition to actually lifting the eyebrows. Also important to adjust any pre-existing asymmetries in the eyebrows which is very common.
