Glasses on the nasal splint?

It is fine to wear glasses on your splint.  After removal however I  advise patients to tape glasses to their forehead for 2-  3 weeks sometimes longer if noticing deep indent at end of the day when starting to wear glasses without tape.  Contact lenses are ideal if you can wear them.

I think this is a questions best answered by your surgeon .In general, I do not want anything resting on the nasal splint and after the splint is off, I also patients to gently wear glasses by taping them to the forehead so that no pressure is placed on the nasal bridge.

Hello Larara,This is a question best addressed by your surgeon.  For my patients I tell them that it is ok to wear the glasses over the nasal splint because it protects the nose.  However, once the nasal splint comes off the glasses must be taped to the forehead so as not to rest on the nose.  The reason is if osteotomies (controlled cuts in the bone) were made to narrow the nose, the pressure from the glasses could shift the bones somewhere where I didn't put them.  By taping the glasses to your forehead it avoids this problem.  I hope this helps and good luck.
