Hi. It`s important that you ask your plastic surgeon who operated you so he /she can tell you what to do and what not to do. Usually it`s ok to do exercise after an otoplasty however you should be careful not to hit your ears. Good luck
Thank you for your question. I would first contact your surgeon for a release to exercise. He/she will have specific post-operative instructions for you after your surgery. In general, beginning a light exercise regimen, two weeks post-operatively, should be okay. Remember that you will still have swelling, and anything you do to raise your blood pressure with increase this. It may not be a bad idea to wear your ear support garment while you exercise.I hope that this helps!-David Gilpin
Of course you should ask your surgeon but certainly with the posterior based techniques it should be ok. No contact sports though. Hope that helps. Adam Goodwin
If you were operated on with the minimally invasive Merck stitch method, you may already do exercises on the day of the operation. If you were operated on with a traditional method, you should ask your surgeon.

Hi. Thank you for your question. There is no inconvenience to use headphones. They just shouldn`t be too big so that they put too much pressure on your ears. It would be better to use smaller ones in the beginning, those which are placed in the auditory canal. Hope this was helpful.
Hi. Thank you for your question. Usually the numbness can take between 2 and 4 months. Up to now, all my patients had their sensibility back after a couple of months. I hope this was helpful.
Following Otoplasty surgery, my patients typically have their ears bandaged for 48 hours. I typically see patients in 24 hours after surgery, and remove the bandages to examine the surgical sites. I then rewrap the patient for an additional 24 hours to keep gentle compression on the ears. At...
Excellent question! The pinna--the outer part of the ear--does affect hearing and thus hearing can be altered by otoplasty. In fact, this issue has even been examined and published in an article by McNeil et al.(Journal of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery 2013 42:10, "Can otoplasty impact...
