I got my ear surgery 5 days ago. Two days ago I got my big bandage off. After I got my bandage off and replaced it with elastic headband, I noticed on both ears some fluid under the skin, like two small bags. It's not painful but I can definitely feel something underneath. I sent these images to my surgeon and he told me it's nothing to worry about and if they don't go away in 7 days come and see him. But from what I understand, if it's hematoma, 7 days is a long time to wait, right?
I had an Otoplasty 6 days ago and while the surrounding areas of my ears are healing really well, I am slightly concerned about the swelling in the concha bowl area of my ear. I am seeing my doctor tomorrow so I will ask him then but I would also like other opinions as well. I know it's early and much of my swelling will be taken care of in the next few weeks but I haven't seen many people with this much swelling in the concha bowl post op. Thank you.
I went to the doctor today to have my bandage changed, 5 days after surgery, and my ears were very swollen. Doctor said everything looked normal, no signs of infection, just some bleeding which may have blocked my ear canal. He said it takes about a week for the swelling to reduce significantly after I finally remove the bandage, as according to him, part of the reason my ears remain swollen is due to being compressed by the bandage. Is this consistent with usual recovery process?
I am worried about my right ear. It is very bruised and swollen still and I have blisters on top of and behind my ear. Also there are a few stitches visible and I don't know if this is normal? My left ear has no bruisng or blisters and looks fine. Does my right ear appear to be healing ok after 6 days from the photos??
Hello everyone! I had an otoplasty procedure done a week ago. Everything went great, so far I am making a quick recovery and the results are notable. My right ear is still a bit swollen but I know I just have to give it time. My concern is this: After the procedure I had that bulky head wrap on for about 24 hours. The day following the procedure the doctor took it off and sent me home. He did not emphasize on wearing some kind of headband at night. Is this needed or is it just for protection?
I just had otoplasty 1 wk ago. The head wrap came off 2 days ago. While puttling the band on, I ripped the top stitch. one ear is stitched to my head still, while the ripped stich has released the hold on the top. Was the skin stitched suposed to attach to eachother, or will the other ear do this once the stitches desolve as well. I am stuck in the head band, if i take it out i can feel a pull on the top of the ear where the stich scliced. It start to protued out slightly and is uncomfortable.
I am 1 (one) week post-op, and I am starting to fear that my otoplasty was botched. When I think about the perfect, or just normal, ears for that matter I envision a relatively small conchal bowl and a helix that is a uniform distance from the head but that is farther out from the head than the concha and anti-helical fold just barely. I actually had an anti-helical fold, but the doctor decided to fold it back anyway. I think this looks weird. What should I do? What are my options?
