I had a breast augmentation 7 months ago, I just have a habit of chewing inside my mouth which will lead to cuts sometimes. Can that lead to capsular contracture somehow. Maybe it’s a dumb question, but I just want to be sure. I’ve had no issues with my implants accept discomfort here and there. No changes in breasts either. Just wondering
Answer: Capsular contracture It is unlikely that a cut inside your mouth would lead to capsular contracture. There is much that is not known about capsular contracture but it is believed there are certain things that can be done to lower risk. Some include selecting an implant that is not too large for the breast space, using a Keller funnel during insertion of silicone implants by surgeon, and placing the implant under the muscle. I've included a video I hope you find helpful.

Answer: Breast Augmentation - impact of cuts in mouth Not crazy or dumb! Anything that actually creates bleeding like piercing, tattoos, trauma, medical procedures should get antibiotics to prevent the bacteria from catching onto the implant and starting capsular contracture (scar tissue hardening) around the implant. So in summary I would make sure I don't cut the inside of my mouth with chewing. Best Wishes!!

Answer: Can cuts in my mouth lead to capsular contracture after a Breast Augmentation? Hello @2newbies No, cuts in your mouth con not cause capsular contracture. When a woman undergoes breast augmentation surgery, placing a prosthesis in your tissue will make the body begin to surround that prosthesis with a new tissue, it is a small film that in most cases depending on how the surgical procedure was done, how the patient heals or the scarring of the patient is, if the patient took post operative care. This capsule is not normally seen or felt, but as time passes by, some patients have an inflammatory reaction to the prosthesis, and that capsule becomes thicker and thicker and it begins to be felt and in the worst of cases it can be seen. We call this capsular contracture. I hope this shed some light. Best wishes!

Answer: Implants Any infection can increase the risk of capsular formation. Your mouth is loaded with bacteria. I would suggest training yourself to avoid chewing inside your mouth. Plus, you may grow ridges where you chew and lead to more problems.
