One breast higher than the other breast - is it too late to tell my plastic surgeon?

The majority of women have some underlying breast asymmetry which is important to identify prior to undergoing breast augmentation surgery. Sometimes, for very significant asymmetry, different size implants can be used to correct it and to make the breasts more symmetric.
I suggest that you discuss your questions and concerns with your Plastic Surgeon.

your surgeon will probably notice it but if you are concerned, you can discuss it with your surgeon. Breast asymmetry can be corrected during surgery.

Without photos it's difficult to say. However, differences in breast footprint position are very common. Balancing the inframammary fold (breast crease) is a frequently performed component of a well-executed breast augmentation.

Your surgeon should have already measured you and should know this. Sometimes the breasts are even, but you hold one shoulder higher than the other. Sometimes it is your back that causes the uneveness, but the breasts are really at the same level. When you see her in preop, ask her.

It is very common for one breast to be slightly higher than the other. If your surgeon examined you during your consultation this would have been noted. It may be that the difference is within what is considered normal limits, so it wasn't discussed. It would also be noticeable during pre op photos. I encourage you to talk to your surgeon about your concerns. It's important that you feel comfortable and confident as you prepare for your surgery.

If the asymmetry was significant on examination, your plastic surgeon would have discussed potential correction options with you. Breast augmentation will not correct asymmetry of shape or nipple location. One can adjust for asymmetry of volume with augmentation.
To be on the safe side, contact your surgeon and discuss your concerns before your procedure so that modifications of the surgery can be scheduled if necessary.

Yes! Tell your surgeon. I always want to know if there are patient concerns--esp before surgery. Sometimes the asymmetry can be made better; other cases the asymmetry will always be there. We now have many types of shapes and sizes of implants, and this can help with correction of some asymmetry. Tell your surgeon! Good luck to you.
