Is fat discharge normal after upper eyelid blepharoplasty?

Thank you for your question.  The skin is normally healed over by 2.5 weeks and there is not usually any discharge at this point.  White discharge is definitely not normal and is not fat.  Its important that you contact your surgeon so they can evaluate your eyes to make sure there are no problems that need intervention.  All the best!

At this point, it is highly improbable that you are seeing "fat."  More likely to be a mucus discharge.  If you have concerns, see your surgeon and have them assess you.  It is better to be seen for something that turns out to be nothing than to miss something important.

There is no way that massage would be pushing fat out of the wound.  At this point you shouldn't have any discharge at all.  Are you doing the massage with an ointment?  That may turn white as you do the massage.  See your surgeon to make sure there is nothing else going on.

You are likely seeing mucous from your description. You should bring this up to your surgeon to be sure.

Dear E_949, I would contact your surgeons office for a proper diagnosis it is unlikely you are seeing any fat from the incisions however if there is discharge then this should be examined so a proper diagnosis and treatment plan can be put into action. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
