I am a 19 year old female with a weak chin. I do not want a chin implant at this time because I am young and do not want something permanent in case I do not like the result. I am wondering how much fillers cost for the chin, how long they last, and if there are any consequences to using them. I have heard that some fillers cause loss of collagen or drooping in the chin area but I have heard quite the opposite as well. Thank you.
Answer: Building a Strong Chin With Fillers and Not Implants Marie1317 A complete consultation is necessary to establish your best course of action. Fillers ( Radiesse, Voluma, Juvederm, Bellafill) can be utilized to build the chin. The first three are temporary fillers that will last 9 months to 19 months while Bellafill can last at least 5 years. Price will depend upon skill set of the cosmetic surgeon and location. Estimates are approximately $500- 1000 per syringe. I would not expect loss of collagen from placement of any of these fillers

Answer: Chin augmentation with fillers Fillers have replaced implants for many cases of chin augmentation. Despite not being permanent, they have advantages. The implants also have significant disadvantages including infection, moving, hardening, and changes over time. In addition it is permanent and might be more than the patient desires. The fillers are more subtle and more "sculptable" and allow smaller changes to be made. The patient gets to try it out. I recommend a filler trial first before an implant.Other options are moving or cutting the bone, which in extreme cases may be the best option. For chin augmenation my favorite filler is Radiesse. It is the most cost effective for the volume, and adds support. There is the possibility , although not high, that it generates collagen or even some bone than could be more permanent. Radiesse is calcium based filler. Rarely there can be lumps. If would take a large amount to cause drooping in the chin area. It also would take a large amount to thin out the overlying tissue. These complications are more common with chin implants after their removal. It may take more than one syringe of Radiesse. A syringe of Radiesse is 1.5 cc which is more than other fillers and costs about $700.

Answer: Chin augmentation Chin augmentation with implant is easy to perform by a skilled and experienced facial plastic surgeon and even easier to remove or replace. In my opinion, implants are better tolerated and over all much less expensive and better result because bone structure augmentation should not be done with soft tissue fillers. these fillers are really designed for replacement of soft tissue volume loss. The only difference is that the chin implant needs to be done by an actual facial plastic or maxilliofacial surgeon and not a "medspa" injector. Besides, how long are you planning on having injections every 6-9 months at around 500-700/syringe (may need more than 1 syringe at each session)?
