Good evening, I am interested in "thinning" the bridge of my nose and possibly a procedure that can make the folds of the wings of my nose more prominent, but I am too paranoid for surgery. I want an enhancement that isn't obvious or too extreme. I have looked into PDO Threads and filler. What options do I have to thin the bridge of my nose? Thank you!

Filler is often used to make small alterations in the nose instead of going through rhinoplasty. It would be better to get photos from all angles, but sometimes the bridge appears wider because it is a bit flat. Using filler can build that up some which will make it look more narrow. Be sure to see an expert injector for consultation.

Hello and thank you for your question! Unfortunately even though non-surgical nosejobs are popular, they are ALMOST ALWAYS done on patients who are poor candidates for it, and who would have much better results with a proper surgical rhinoplasty. For your nose, with the wider nasal bridge, small ala ("wings"), and overall shape, you would actually be a perfect candidate for surgery. Filler would only make your nasal bridge appear wider (not thinner) and would not be balanced with the rest of your face. Also, filler does not have the structural strength needed to make the changes you are requesting. Similarly, threads would not help in your situation.

Many surgeons overlook key techniques that can otherwise soften the appearance of underlying structures, significantly improving tip symmetry and refinement, and resulting in beautiful and natural appearing results. These specialized maneuvers require a high level of expertise and experience, which most surgeons simply do not have. Given your history, an open septorhinoplasty would be the best approach to precisely reshape your nasal tip, refine the bridge, and restore overall balance.

In addition to reshaping your nose aesthetically, your septal cartilage (or an alternative graft material) would be used to create structural grafts, reinforcing key areas like the columella (the strip of tissue between your nostrils). This is crucial to maintaining long-term symmetry and preventing future distortions.

Rhinoplasty is one of the most technically demanding procedures in all of plastic surgery—millimeters make all the difference. If a surgeon is only performing one or two rhinoplasties per month, they simply do not have the level of experience necessary to achieve the best possible result. Based on your photo, you may have wideness of your nose from the top all the way down to the bottom of your nostrils. If you are looking to achieve a narrowed nasal appearance, rhinoplasty surgery may be the most reliable way to achieve this. Adding fillers into your nose may result in a wider appearance. You might consider  what is called an alarplasty.. this is where a segment of your nostril is cut out to narrow the flare of the nostrils. It works very well I’m cases like yours. It’s less expensive than full rhinoplasty and can be done under local anesthesia.. it’s a minor procedure  that will make a subtle but worthwhile difference.

Non Surgical rhinoplasty can be used to reshape the nose by adding volume to the nose. What I mean by this is that if your bridge (dorsum) was too low, then dermal fillers could be used to make it taller (dorsal augmentation). This would give the appearance of a narrower bridge. With regards to the tip of the nose, some degree of refinement is possible to reduce the appearance of bulbosity or width of the tip of the nose, but this is limited by the thickness and extensibility of the tip skin. For a more permanent option, an alarplasty will improve the width and flare of the nostrils, but your tip and bridge can also be addressed during rhinoplasty surgery to maintain an attractive balance. Projecting the tip of your nose and making it slightly taller will make it appear smaller and more refined from the frontal view. #drdonyoo

Hello. Thanks for asking. The nose is one of the areas that have more complications in aesthetic treatments, having said that, there are a few treatment options to visually make it narrow. It will never change your natural anatomy but HA fillers can achieve the effect of narrowing the bridge of the nose as first option, it will improve only the center of the nose never the wings or sides. If no, MINT PDO threads have a range of threads specific for small zones and for the nose, I will recommend trying this options before surgery. A Closed rhinoplasty is less invasive than open rhinoplasty and is required to narrow your nasal bones. Osteotomies placed in the nasal bones themselves accomplish narrowing the wide bridge line. An alar plasty is required to narrow wide nostrils.

Hi there! Fillers can be one way to thin the bridge if you're opposed to surgery. The bridge can be augmented which in turn makes the frontal view more narrow. Fillers last 8-10 months (on average) and are easy to place in clinic. You have to remember that there are risks with injecting filler into the nose. The blood supply is extensive and if filler blocks one of the blood vessels, necrosis or skin damage can occur. Repeated injections as well can cause scar tissue making any future surgery, if desired, more difficult. Hope this helps!`
