I am interested in Emsculpt but had a tummy tuck 5 years ago and was wondering if I would be a candidate?

Hi Yecats,Having had a previous tummy tuck is not a contra-indication for Emsculpt, it is a safe and effective procedure after a tummy tuck.  One should wait long enough for the tummy tuck surgery to have healed well before having Emsculpt, certainly 5 years is plenty of time for you to improve your abdomen with Emsculpt.  Good luck and be well.Dr. P 

Thank you for your question. There is no reason why you can't have Emsculpt after a tummy tuck. Many patients still have muscle weakness after surgery and this is an excellent way to firm up the muscles. Four 3o minute treatments is like doing 200 sit-ups a day for a full year! If that does not improve the results of a tummy tuck, I don't know what will. Good luck.

While abdominoplasty(tummy tuck) is a great surgical option to help close a diastases recti and remove excess skin, it does not do much to help increase the underlying muscle.
Emsculpt uses magnetic energy to cause 20,000 supra-maximal contractions of the abdominal muscles increasing their bulk by about 19%.  Additionally, it causes an overlying fat loss of about 22%.  This results in a more defined abdomen musculature.
There would be no problem having Emsculpt done 5 years following your Tummy tuck.  In fact you will probably get great results.

Thank you for your question! I think that since you are 5 years out from an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) you are a good candidate for Emsculpt to improve muscle tone. With a abdominoplasty, your surgeon most likely plicated or repaired your six pack or rectus abdominis muscle and so you most likely don’t have Diastasis at this point but the Emsculpt will help strengthen the muscle and give you more definition.

EMSCULPT is designed for muscle building and toning. Fat reduction is a byproduct of this treatment. If you are a patient with less than 2" of fat, then you would be a great candidate for this treatment. There are some contraindications and you would need to speak to your EMSCULPT provider on these to ensure you are a proper candidate.
