I had Fraxel on my nose two months ago to reduce pores. My nose was swollen and red for a couple of days. Soon after, a tiny bump or ridge starting appearing across my nose. It may be the result of skin tightening that shows the underlying tissue. Pores are better and I will go back for another treatment. But I really want to know what caused the ridge and if it is going to become more noticeable after another treatment. I went to a reputable dermatologist whom I have used for many years. I want to see the pictures that were made prior to the treatment, before the next one. Updated on 12 Feb 2011: I have subsequently become better educated about Fraxel treatments and will have more of these. Dr. P' is one of my favorite practitioners.
I had an allergic reaction to a treatment preformed by Anna Paré, M.D. at Dermatology Consultants, P.C. (Atlanta). I went back for an emergency follow up because of this allergic reaction. Anna Paré, M.D. at Dermatology Consultants, P.C. advised THEY would give me my test results to understand and to care for my allergic condition. THIS TOOK 72 HOURS even as I called again, and again, they would not respond to me. I had to seek attention at a different Dermatology physician. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!
EMSCULPT Is a wonderfully tolerable treatment. Because of the mechanism there is no pain involved. There is a tightening up of your muscles during the treatment pulses which which some even say tickles because it is a unique feeling. Think of doing an intense abdomen workout for an hour at the gym, and then turn around and have to hold a plank. Your muscles will contract and relax in a series of pulses during the treatment. You may feel a little tired post treatment, but that is what we want to see - those muscles being put to work in a supramaximal contraction!
EMSCULPT is designed for muscle building and toning. Fat reduction is a byproduct of this treatment. If you are a patient with less than 2" of fat, then you would be a great candidate for this treatment. There are some contraindications and you would need to speak to your EMSCULPT provider on these to ensure you are a proper candidate.
This is a great question to ask. The EMSCULPT treatment, actually bodysculpting treatments in general, typically do not affect weight. The weight of fat is a lot lighter than you realize compared to the size, so when you reduce or deplete fat cells, your weight usually won't fluctuate much from the treatment alone. Same with EMSCULPT, but it is working primarily on building muscle. The amount of change, however visible, more than likely will not show much of a difference on the scale. This treatment is for patients with less than 2" of fat on their abdomen or buttocks so the fat reduction change is not dramatic as would be with a treatment like CoolSculpting or Vanquish ME.
Protocol is recommended to come in for a series of four treatments in two weeks. This gives your muscles a few days in between each treatment to rest. If you lead a busy lifestyle and can't make it in twice a week that is okay, just try to maximize your results by completing the series as close as possible.
EMSCULPT is showing data already with muscle building lasting at 6 months post treatment. For some this may be satisfactory results for their desired look. Others may want to continue a maintenance package throughout the year to achieve maximal results and keep toned and defined. This is also a wonderful alternative for those who lead a busy lifestyle and cannot make it into the gym or find the time to work with a trainer. Simply shift those costs to EMSCULPT!
