Infection of incision after breast reduction (Photo)

Small openings like this is not uncommon, but a foul smell is not normal I recommend you see your PS to discuss this concern best of luck.

From what I can see it looks like your incision is opening. A foul odor is never a good thing. I would suggest you call your surgeon's office today and let them know what's going on.

From the picture you posted, there doesn't seem to be cellulitis (blanching skin redness) to indicate a skin infection. A wound opening in that exact spot is not uncommon after breast reduction and almost always heals very well with local wound care. You can experience non-foul smelling serous yellow or fatty appearing drainage from the site. Purulent drainage (pus) has a foul odor and is typically accompanied with cellulitis. See your plastic surgeon to assure that your wound is healing well and sooner if you are experiencing foul smelling drainage or skin redness.

I'm sorry to hear that you are going through this.  I would usually review my patients weekly (or more frequently) to ensure they are getting the support they need.  This is not an uncommon problem, and is usually managed with good wound care.  Perhaps see if you can get another appointment with your surgeon sooner - or with their nurse, to reassure you & check on your progress.  All the best & time will heal.

Thank you for posting the pictures.  Unfortunately, the dehiscence (wound opening) at this location is fairly common.  The areas do not look red.  However, foul smelling purulent discharges (pus) are concerning.  I understand your concerns.  Have you consulted your PS for antibiotics?
