hello thank you for your question and provided information as well. based in your question is difficultd to evaluate the case without picture i recommend go to the consultation with a plastic surgeon certificated to discuss all about your case.
Implants are designed to be quite strong. They’re able to withstand tonnes of pressure, literally, and this is tested by the manufacturer. However, you should be aware that there is still a risk of rupture in high impact activities, which can also increase the risk of displacement or other complication.
Breast implants both cohesive gel and saline are very durable and in theory should last a lifetime. They rupture on very rare occasions and only really need to be replaced if a problem were to occur. You may be looking at a small increase in chance of rupture as a boxer, but it's difficult to say for sure. Generally speaking, unless there are other underlying health issues not mentioned here, being a boxer should not impede you from getting breast implants. I would book an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon and discuss all your questions and concerns. It's best to make an informed decision that is right for you and the result that you are looking to achieve.
Studies indicate that rupture or deflation occurs in roughly 10 - 25 percent of silicone gel and saline implants over 10 years. Blunt force trauma hardly ever ruptures a breast implant. Usually, a sharp object would have to cause this. At some point, the implant shell weakens through the years and is more capable of being ruptured. If there is very little breast tissue and the patient is not depending upon her upper body strength for a career such as weightlifting, boxing, bodybuilding, etc., submuscular placement is a better choice. Going above the muscle is not unreasonable in your situation. Discuss these options with your board certified plastic surgeon.
Repeated trauma may increase the chance of implant rupture, but the rate of this is probably very small. As long as my patient understands this, I think it is safe to proceed with surgery and continue boxing after you are well healed.
Breast implants are remarkably durable but of course don't last forever.. is there increased risk of breakage from boxing. Maybe. How great is the risk ? We don’t know. I would say that if you get implants you may be at greater risk of breakage and should be aware of this. How much greater? Nobody can say. If you are okay with the possibility of breakage if implants I don’t see a problem but if it’s going to be a matter of tremendous concern perhaps best not to get them.
You most certainly can get breast implants if you are a boxer. The question is wether it is a wise thing to do. While implants are quite resilent and can withstand a great deal of compressive force, they can be ruptured . In boxing , one could expect to be repeatedly exposed to being struck in the chest , increasing the risk of an implant rupture. The most prudent course would be to delay having augmentation until your boxing career is complete.
Hello and thank you for your question. New generation implants are very durable and likely withstand significant force. Having said that, you are probably at increased risk of implant rupture from boxing. I would seek consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon for a full evaluation and advice. Implants are pretty tough and durable. They will withstand anything that a normal breast can withstand. In fact, one of my colleagues has a video of himself driving his car over implants without them rupturing. That is a pretty good stress test. Still, implants are not stainless steel. Eventually, they may wear out or, if you get hit just right, they may rupture. Don't live your life around the fear that your implants could rupture. If they do, it is a relatively easy matter to replace them.
the implants are strong but not indestructible. you would be at higher risk for rupture. if you are a professional boxer , wait till your career is over
Hello. Thank you for your inquiry. It is important to have an in-person assessment regarding your concerns as it is difficult to determine virtually. Exact end results and cup sizes are usually quite difficult to calculate as everyone has a different starting point. There are many different...
