Question

I’m 5ft 2 very petite, thin frame and weigh around 7st. I have micromastia so I have very little breast tissue present. My goal is to achieve a natural looking breasts and increase to around a full B or C if possible? My PS only gave me the option of 180cc implants under the muscle, can I go higher in cc to around 200cc or would this not be suitable for me? My preference for my implants is the smooth round gel either eurosolicone or nagor.

Having a quick look through the size of implants I have used for ladies of similar dimensions to you the average implant size is just over 200cc up to 275cc. However without a face to face consultation it is hard to say. If you have a narrow breast width then you might need to go for higher profile implants to increase the volume.

The reality is that if you are starting with tiny breasts and a tight skin envelope, then larger implants may simply not be an option.  A board certified plastic surgeon will be able to guide you to the correct size implant for your measurements and desires.  Measurements of the chest wall and breast imprint width as well as knowledge of all breast implant sizes and profiles should make this process easy. Try on a profile bra with 180 and 200 cc sizers under a shirt, workout clothes, and other garments you typically wear so that you have the best idea of whether the garments fit as desired with the implant selected. 
I would recommend that you go with the size that boosts your self-esteem, and fits your anatomy.  Choosing an implant based on an aesthetic goal that exceeds your anatomic capacity may lead to complications and possibly revision. Based upon his/her credentials, trust your surgeon to make the best decision in the OR when the implants are placed

You need a formal evaluation by a licensed plastic surgeon and expert in breast augmentations to determine what is best for you and your goals.Proper breast enlargement is not a "cookie-cutter" procedure where the same technique is applied to every patient. Every woman who comes to my practice has unique needs and different goals for her breast augmentation. Depending on the individual anatomy and desired results, estimations and measurements should be made for each patient individually. Thank you for sharing your excellent question and photographs.  For most patients a larger implant in the 200cc range should be easily achievable, but this depends on your key breast measurements and goal results.  i would schedule additional consultations to get a more general consensus on implant options.

180 cc’s are very small implants and o don’t think you would be happy.  You could easily get at least 250 cc implants without looking too large.  Get another opinion if you want larger but the surgeon you went to is not willing to do it.

breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small.You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.

Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. You could likely have an implant in the 200cc range. The size, profile, and shape of the implant is based on your desired breast size/shape, your chest wall measurements, and soft tissue quality. This decision should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. Best wishes and good luck.

Its really not possible to answer this question without seeing you, so I will make some general comments about implants in the very petite patient.The more slender the patient the less natural the result may be because there is nothing to hide the impant.  A woman starting with a full B size breast will look more natural than a woman with an A- size breast because there is more breast tissue to soften the look of the implant.Three things I think of to make a petite patient as natural as possible:1) Common sense size:The implant must have the correct width to balance with the shouders and the curve of the hips. but overly large will always look less natural. For most of my petite patients I like a moderate plus. I find that low profiles just don't do enough in the patient with no breast tissue and that High profiles are not as natural looking. To me the moderate plus in this population of patients is a happy medium that can be dressed up or hidden when needed,2) Under the muscle:While I am a big fan of under the muscle implants regardless, in the slender patient I feel it is even more important. The implant under the muscle is better hidden and tends to have a softer look because of the extra tissue over the implant.3)  Soft smooth silicone:I favor regular smooth cohesive gel implants in the petite population These implants tend to take on a softer or more tear drop shape IMO.If you are not sure about the size recomendations visit your PS again and ask to try on sizers. Of course I want you to get the result you want, but there are trade offs in the very small patient and bigger is not always better. I have included some thoughts abour sizing in the FAQ link below. Hello and thank you for your question and sharing your photos. An in-person examination is needed to give you a good advice. Measurements such as Base width diameter (BWD) are important in selecting the right implant. In terms of the size, most plastic surgeons use many
modalities including in-bra sizers and goal pictures to select the implant
size.  My best
advice is that you communicate your goals and aesthetic ideals with your
surgeon as clearly as possible. Final implant selection should be based on shared decision making between your and  your surgeon.
