I am currently 1 week post op, and for the past 2 days I have been getting intense pains where my incisions are (in the crease of my breast). The pain is like a burning sensation and it almost feels like my skin is ripping even though there isn’t any tension along the skin. The first few days of my recovery were fine and I had hardly any pain, day 6 and 7 have been the worst. Is this normal?
Answer: Post Op Incision Site Pain Hi SidneyHoll123, I understand your concern and I am sorry to hear about what you are experiencing. However, it is difficult to assess your incision site without an in-person examination. While it is not uncommon to experience pain at the incision site a few weeks after your surgery, it is best that you visit your plastic surgeon to have yourself properly assessed. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Nerve irritation Thanks for your question...What you are describing is not uncommon and sounds like it is related to nerve irritation. It is usually temporary, so continue to monitor. Please speak to your surgeon however if you are still concerned. You can learn more on our social media (Instagram and Snapchat): @realdrsix. Regards,

Answer: Is it normal to have incision burning pain at a week out from surgery? Thank you for sharing your question. Nothing replaces an in-person examination, but it is not uncommon to have some incision pain/nerve irritation at the site of your incision at a week from surgery. Because this has been a recent change in your recovery I would recomend discussing with your surgeon as they can offer you the best reassurance. Hope this helps.

Answer: Is it normal to have Incision burning pain in breast crease 1 week post-op? Pain early after surgery is not uncommon. This is usually due to severed nerves during surgery. However, watch out for the signs and symptoms of infection to make sure you are healing well. Common signs of infection include fever, tenderness, and redness around the incision, pain, and excessive fluid discharge.

Answer: Incision burning pain Thank you for the question. You are still in the early recovery stage at 1 week post-op. It is not uncommon to feel discomfort and swelling during this period. A burning or itching sensation is also pretty ordinary due to nerve irritation. It usually takes about 8-12 weeks for the wounds to heal and around 4-6 months for the implants to fully settle. Unfortunately, it's hard to tell if your healing is progressing normally without an in-person exam. It would always be best to visit your board-certified plastic surgeon and get a full assessment for your concerns. Best of luck!
