I have a athletic shape, wide shoulders,75kgs, 12B, wanting to go to C/D. Apart from size, Im happy with my breasts. Surgeon said subglandular due to enough breast tissue (tissue-3cm,chest size-21cms (equilateral triangle),inter breast-1.9cm,width- both 15.3) I do weights at gym, hairdresser so use upper body daily. He said submuscular can buldge when the upper body muscles are being used.I want a natural look, and been told under the muscle is best to achieve that but surgeon said otherwise. Confused! Is subglandular implants the best for a natural look for an athletic body shape and lifestyle? Im 25, size 12, 176cms tall
Answer: Breast implants under or over the muscle Dear Blondy, Thanks for submitting your picture. You appear to be a small A cup, so , assumming that you are a 34 small A cup, to become a 34 full C cup you will need roughly 450cc of saline ( my prefered implants ) . I routinely place the implants under the muscle due to better coverage, less capsule contracture and better preservation of nipple sensation. When done correctly, and the muscle along the sub mammary crease is released adequately, there might be some flatening of the chest but there is no bulge when the muscles are being used. I can tell you frankly, that after performing breast augmentation under the muscle on over 2,000 patients, most of the patients are very happy and their breasts look very natural. Some of my patients got married after they had the surgery and they tell me that their husbands do not know that they have implants... Always, consult with board certified plastic surgeons and check ther before and after pictures to make sur that you like the results. Best of luck, Dr Widder

Answer: Natural look For a more natural look, sub-pectoral placement is preferred. This allows for more tissue to cover the implant to make it less detectable. However, if your surgeon said that you have enough tissue to go over the muscle, then it should be okay.

Answer: Subglandular vs Submuscular There are advantages and disadvantages of subglandular and submuscular placement of breast implants. I believe they can both provide a "natural" look as long as the correct implant is chosen. A subglandular breast augmentation would be a great choice if your surgeon states that you have enough breast tissue to camouflage the implant. Good luck!

Answer: Are Subglandular Implants the best choice for my athletic body shape if I'm seeking a natural look? Thank you for the question and picture. Based on your pictures, I think you are starting a great “starting place” and should have a very nice outcome with breast augmentation surgery. Given your body type, I would agree with the use of silicone gel breast implants placed in the sub muscular (dual plane) position. Generally speaking, the best online advice I can give to ladies who are considering breast augmentation surgery ( regarding breast implant size/profile selection) is: 1. Concentrate on choosing your plastic surgeon carefully. Concentrate on appropriate training, certification, and the ability of the plastic surgeon to achieve the results you're looking for. Ask to see lots of examples of his/her work. 2. Have a full discussion and communication regarding your desired goals with your plastic surgeon. This communication will be critical in determining breast implant size/type/profile will most likely help achieve your goals. In my practice, the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) is very helpful. I have found that the use of words such as “natural” or “C/D cup” etc means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful. Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on him who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. The use of computer imaging technology may also be very helpful during this communication process. 3. Once you feel you have communicated your goals clearly, allow your plastic surgeon to use his/her years of experience/judgment to choose the breast implant size/profile that will best meet your goals. Again, in my practice, this decision is usually made during surgery. I hope this (and the attached link) help.

Answer: Breast Enhancement Surgery I like subglandular implants more and more, I know under the muscle is all the rage but alot of animation deformities as well as implant displacement is due to a muscle pushing on the implant, a small 230-260 implant under your gland will be great
