I’ve heard that overfilling traditional saline implants will reduce chances of rippling. If you’ve used IDEAL on patients, do you recommend overfilling to reduce chances of rippling? And are there any other cons to not overfilling?

Answer: Ideal Implant Filling - Does Over Filling Help Thank you for the question. For saline implants, it is helpful to fill them to the upper amount recommended by the manufacturer, in order to reduce rippling. I do not "over fill" beyond this and have very, very few patients with concerns about rippling. Out of over 1000 Saline implants I have placed, I have only replaced 3-4 patients for complaints of rippling. For Ideal implants, there is a fill volume range for the outer lumen, which can be safely used with minimal chance of rippling. At the lower volume, the implant might feel a bit softer and less projecting, and at the upper end of the range, a little firmer and more projecting. All implants, including silicone gel implants, ripple a bit, but for most patients, this is not noticeable. I have used many Ideal implants and have been very happy with the results, regardless of the fill volume. You should look for a surgeon in the Ideal Implant Network for the best result. Good luck.

Answer: Overfilling Ideal Implant Good day! The rupture or deflation of an implant usually occurs when there was an under-filling or overfilling of solution into the implant. If the implant shell was filled with incorrect amount of solution, there may be a crease or fold in the shell which often leads to a rupture. This is not an urgent issue as it is not dangerous to your health from our current knowledge base. Do not hesitate to contact a board-certified plastic surgeon and discuss detailed information on the procedure you want to get. Best of luck! #RealSelf100
