Answer: Chemical peel for sensitive skin needs adjunctive topical care An appropriate chemical peel may help start the process of treating uneven skin pigmentation. For uneven skin pigmentation I also recommend a skin regimen prior to to prepare the skin for the peel. Melarase AM cream is great to reduce hyperpigmentation and to correct uneven skin pigmentation. I also recommend Pigmentation Correction Complex to reduce hyperpigmentation of the skin. Also avoid sun exposure to prevent inflammation and skin burn injury for at least 4 weeks. Spectrase is highly effective. Best H Karamanoukian MD FACS

Answer: Face hyperpigmentation Facial hyperpigmentation is a very difficult problem to treat especially in patients with darker skin. In Toronto, I like to wait until the fall to start treatment. However, always use a excellent sunscreen everyday and if you are outside in the sun re-apply every 4 hours.Combination treatment are usually needed such as topical applications, chemical peels and even non-ablative laser technology.

Answer: Face tan and pigmentation Face tan/ pigmentation can be tricky to deal with. Depending on your Fitzpatrick skin type ie. do you burn more or tan more, there should be a good solution. Patients that burn more may be a good candidate for IPL (intense pulsed light); however, the concern is that it may lift the overall brown tone and leave you hypopigmented. ANother good option would be is the non ablative Fraxel 1927 which can help remove brown spots/ discoloration and can be safely used for all skin types/ colors. There are also topical therapies that can help you maintain what you have and minimize further browning such as the Obagi CRX system, Lytera, and Hydroquinone based creams. I would recommend using these with caution when you are first starting off. Most importantly, minimize sun exposure and wear sunblock daily with reapplications every 2 hours.

Answer: Chemical Peels for Sensitive skin Hello Nirupinky, There are numerous reasons why your face is darker than the rest of you body, I recommend seeing a Dermatologist or Esthetician in your area, they can access the cause of pigmentation and find a solution. There are various chemical peels that are great for lifting pigmentation as well as some gentle lasers like the Clear & Brilliant. Most often multiple treatments are needed along with a good skin care regime. Make sure to always wear sun protection even on a cloudy day and a hat when in prolonged sun exposure.

Answer: Chemical peels for sensitive skin Hi Nirupinky!Thank you for your question! The best way to get rid of a tan is to use a facial sunscreen of at least 30 spf and limit your exposure to UVA and UVB rays. If you have a lot of pigment on your face from UVA rays, an IPL photofacial may be a good option for you. To speed up the exfoliation rate of your skin, a low percentage lactic acid peel is a great option for sensitive skin. Please seek out a licensed esthetician for all of your skincare needs. At home treatments are extremely risky. Best of luck to you!
