Pussing, bleeding, and stitch spitting 4 weeks post op. (Photo)

Question

I had an anchor lift on my left breast & a crescent lift on my right breast with 397cc silicone implants on Dec. 23rd. Two days ago I noticed a pussing opening on vertical incision & one slightly bleeding at "T". Should I be worried? Treating once to twice daily with Polysporin and covering with cotton pad. A bump appeared on right breast today. Getting progressively larger & a little tender. Possible spitting suture? Next Dr app is Feb 9th. Most worried about infection prevention.

Thank you for your question.  Unfortunately, spitting sutures do occur quite often in procedures that require a lot of suturing.  It is because our bodies tend to reject foreign bodies (in this case, the sutures).  The suture will then become exposed and an inflammatory reaction ensues.  Keep the area clean and not infected is the key.  If you think the wounds are getting progressively larger and more painful, you should see your surgeon sooner rather than later.  He/she may be able to remove the spitting sutures so the skin can heal over sooner.  Good luck!

I would definitely discuss this and be seen by your
board-certified plastic surgeon as soon as possible.  It appears from your
photos that it is possible it could be simply one of the sutures making its way
to the surface.  Fortunately, this type of issue generally heals on its
own with proper wound care.  Hopefully this is helpful to you.  Best

I have to say that you're very early from healing process and it's very common that your breasts are like this at the first two weeks.. Your stitches are spitting,, you need to be evaluated by your doctor as soon as possible... hugs!

You definitely need to get in to the office of your surgeon soon. You appear to have a series of stitch abscesses. If caught early these can resolve and not be a problem. If left too long they can result in implant loss.. Call your surgeon.

Please call your doctor, they will work you in sooner. This is probably a suture spitting out, but no guarantees. If it is a suture, they can remove it and get you healed sooner.
