Hello! I’m a 20 year old, 5’0 tall, 115 pounds . I have my surgery this week and decided on 400cc moderate plus implants under the muscle. I know feel like this is way to big for me and wondering if I should switch to 350cc. Having a lot of anxiety about picking the wrong size and ending up with too large of breasts for my body type . I am now a 32a
Answer: 400cc moderate plus too large for me? Hello! Thank you for your question. In general, implant size does not correlate with bra cup size. The cup size itself will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer as well as who is doing the actual measurements. Thus, cup size is never a reliable indicator for your breast size. I typically encourage my patients not to communicate her desires in cup size but more on the actual look and appearance. Good communication between you and your surgeon of your expectations is warranted - choosing your surgeon wisely is the first step. Discussion of your wishes and having an honest and open dialog of your procedure is mandatory (e.g, implant type, incision, placement, lift, etc). I have found that photographs brought by the patient is helpful to get a visualization of the appearance you wish for in terms of size, shape, fullness, etc. In addition, your surgeon's pre and postoperative photographs should demonstrate a realistic goal for you. Once this has been accomplished, allow your surgeon to utilize his/her best medical judgment during the procedure to finesse the best possible result for you after preoperative biodimensional planning and fitting the right implant for your breast width. Without examination and measurements of your stature, breast width, and overall la it’s of tissue, it is difficult to tell you which I mplants would fit nicely for you. Given your photos, it appears that they would be a nice size and profile for you. However, getting appropriate values would assist greatly in determining the best implant size, type, and profile specifically for you. Hope me that this helps! Best wishes for a wonderful result! Answer: 400cc moderate plus too large for me? Thank you for your pictures and questions. If you think 400 cc is "way too big" then it is. You should be confident with your choice and should not proceed with surgery until you are ready. Discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon and try on several implants to help decide on what you want.Good luck!

Answer: Breast augmentation, 350-400cc Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. It would be helpful to know your individual breast measurements in order to determine if 350 or 400cc would be a better choice for you. The size, profile, and shape of the implant is based on your desired breast size/shape, your chest wall measurements, and soft tissue quality. This decision should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: You Are Absolutely Correct Hello,400 cc implant will not only look really big on your 5 foot frame (but that's a matter of taste, and not what is crucial to me as a surgeon), but they will likely exceed your anatomic soft tissue limit, leading to complications and reoperation. Your surgeon should size you (it's not just breast base width or BWD) to confirm anatomic capacity, and you should use sizers in the mirror to determine your anatomic goal, if achievable. Best of luck!

Answer: Best breast implants for me? My best advice: more communication. It is definitely worth spending more time (prior to the date of surgery) with your plastic surgeon to discuss further. As you know, it will be important for many reasons, that you feel comfortable that you and your plastic surgeon are on the "same page" prior to proceeding. One question that may be helpful to: do you think you will be more disappointed if you are slightly too small or slightly too small? Ultimately, careful communication of your goals (in my practice I prefer the use of goal pictures, direct examination/communication in front of a full-length mirror, in bra sizers, and computer imaging) as well as careful measurements (dimensional planning) will be critical. Generally speaking, the best online advice I can give to ladies who are considering breast augmentation surgery ( regarding breast implant size/profile selection) is: 1. Concentrate on choosing your plastic surgeon carefully. Concentrate on appropriate training, certification, and the ability of the plastic surgeon to achieve the results you are looking for. Ask to see lots of examples of his/her work. 2. Have a full discussion and communication regarding your desired goals with your plastic surgeon. This communication will be critical in determining breast implant size/type/profile will most likely help achieve your goals. In my practice, the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) is very helpful. For example, I have found that the use of words such as “natural” or "C or D cup” etc means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful. Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on him who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. Again, the use of computer imaging has been very helpful during the communication process, in our practice. 3. Once you feel you have communicated your goals clearly, allow your plastic surgeon to use his/her years of experience/judgment to choose the breast implant size/profile that will best meet your goals. Again, in my practice, this decision is usually made during surgery, after the use of temporary intraoperative sizers. I hope this helps. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be very pleased with.
