I was naturally a full d did a breast lift wit 450 cc HP implants. I'm hoping in the first week they are very swollen Does the swelling and then dropping make a huge difference in size ?
Answer: Implant dropping Dear Carrol m,dropping of implants is part of the healing process and this occurs after the tissues surrounding the implants slowly relax, allowing the implants to settle into their final position. It can take about four to six months for the implant to drop down to their final position.I understand that you are worried about your implants are not dropping as expected. However, you are still in the early phase of the recovery period. Please do allow some time for the healing process to occur. If after six months, you are not satisfied with the appearance of your breast, you can visit your plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Answer: Breast Implant Recovery Your questions and concerns are common after breast implant surgery. There is quite a bit of swelling immediately after surgery, and over time, the swelling will decrease and the implants will "drop" into the pocket. Patients usually tell me that after about 6 weeks, they quit thinking about their implants all the time, and after 3-4 months, you can start shopping for new bras. That being said, the implant size you mentioned is not small, and if you were already wearing a D cup bra before surgery, you will be noticeably larger with your implants. I wish you luck in your recovery.

Answer: Implant size Thanks for your question. I believe that I answered this yesterday, but will try again. You do have a large implant, but it appears even larger right now b/c of swelling and the fact that they haven't had time to drop. At 6 weeks you'll have a better idea. Best of Luck!

Answer: I'm worried my implants are way too big, will they become smaller once the swelling goes down? I'm sorry to hear about the concerns you have after your procedure. You should be aware that a significant percentage of patients at your stage of recovery will feel that they are too big or (more commonly) too small. I routinely ask my patients to wait at least 3-6 months before evaluating the end results of the breast augmentation surgery. This waiting time allows patients to (usually) physically and psychologically adapt to the new body image. From the physiological standpoint, it takes many months ( and even up to one year) to see the final results of surgery. factors such as swelling, tissue contraction, skin redraping, implant shifting etc. come into play. You may be pleasantly surprised wants to be "drop and fluff" phenomenon has occurred. From the psychological standpoint, patients undergo an “adaptation period" during which time they get used to the changes that the surgical procedure has brought about. Severe emotional swings can also occur after any type of surgical procedure. In your case, I would suggest continued patience and continued close follow-up with your plastic surgeon. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be pleased with long-term.
