Years of back pain and difficulty with daily activities, lead me to seek out a surgeon for breast reduction. At 60 years old, I was apprehensive to pursue a surgical solution. Dr. Grubbs made me feel so comfortable and relaxed during my initial consultation for my breast reduction. The office staff was incredibly helpful and caring and made the process easy. Additionally, I have a family history of breast cancer and personally, dense breast tissue that was routinely questioned on annual mammograms. Dr. Grubbs went above and beyond to ensure I received a clean bill of health prior to surgery. He coordinated with a local general surgeon, to ensure all steps were taken so I'd have the best possible outcome after surgery. I would recommend anyone considering breast reduction to reach out to Dr. Grubbs and his staff. It has truly been life changing! Before surgery, I had to special order my bra (cup size F) and had difficulty finding clothes that fit my body. After surgery (cup size C), I have the freedom to shop anywhere, and the special order days are behind me! Thank you Dr. Grubbs and staff for the amazing & personal care I received! Words cannot express my gratitude!
I had mastopexy and abdominoplasty last summer. Dr. Grubbs and his staff were very thorough and explained every step in detail about each procedure. He answered any questions I may have had. He is a caring, dedicated physician to all of his patients. He and his staff are wonderful and professional. I am so happy with the results of my surgeries! Dr. Grubbs restored my self confidence and I feel like a new woman!!!! I would recommend Dr. Grubbs to anyone wanting to pursue any cosmetic procedures. Thank you, Dr. Grubbs! You're the best!!
I started going to Dr. Grubbs many years ago. I started with a tummy tuck about about 12 yrs ago and I am still amazed with the results. A few years later he did my breast lift/augmentation and brachioplasty. Now I get botox. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Grubbs and his staff! I would highly recommend him.
After years of debating whether to have a breast reduction, I finally did and my only regret is that I did not do it sooner. The procedure has completely changed my life. I am now 4 weeks out from the surgery and I have had zero back, shoulder, and neck pain for the first time in my adult life. I went from cup size H/I to DD and I can not describe how wonderful it feels. I was not only suffering from physical pain but also emotional embarrassment due to the size of my breasts always being a distraction and focus, regardless of being in a social and/or professional setting. Dr. Grubbs and the entire staff in his office have been absolutely awesome through this process. I can not begin to thank them enough for taking care of all the insurance and pre/post surgical stuff for me. I am a curvy woman (always will be) and was concerned about the smaller breast size not being proportional to my body size/shape. Dr. Grubbs was very patient and understanding about my concerns and worked with me in order to ensure that I would be happy with the results. Bottomline: I am extremely satisfied with not only the level of care from Dr. Grubbs and his staff but also the results of the surgery. I can not wait to finally enjoy "normal" sized and priced bras, button-down shirts, and running without pain and injury. An entire new world of clothes and activities has been opened up to me now! Thank you Dr. Grubbs!!!
I had herd so many great things about Dr Grubb. Insurance approved me for my TT and MR. I'm a 29 year old mother of 2. I weighed at my highest 288 pounds and went down to 146 before surgery. He removed 2 pounds of lose skin. My incisions are very low. Scar looks amazing. My recovery was quick! Hospital was nice also. Updated on 13 Aug 2015: I JUST WANTED TO TAKE SOME FRESH PICTURES AND SHARE. IM 3 WEEKS POST OP! HEALING GREAT, SCAR LOOKS AMAZING, STILL A LITTLE NUMB IN PLACES EXP AROUND MY BELLY BUTTON. STILL SOME SWELLING, BUT OVER ALL VERY HAPPY! Updated on 17 Aug 2015: I received my explanation of benefits today. My insurance did pay for my TT and MR. I posted the letters for you. All together I have to pay $762. This is not my official bill, I will also get an employee discount which is not started here. Updated on 2 Sep 2015: YESTERDAY 9/1/15 I WENT FOR MY 6 WEEKS POST OP APPOITMENT WITH DR. GRUBB. HE RELEASED ME TO START LIFTING AND RETURN TO WORK. HE SAID WITH LIFTING JUST TAKE IT SLOW GRADUALLY MOVING YOUR WAY BACK UP IN WEIGHT. I ALSO HAD HIM QUOTE ME FOR BREAST IMPLANTS AND LIFT. IT WILL COST ME $8500. I PLAN ON HAVING THEM PROBABLY IN THE NEXT YEAR. THAT WILL GIVE ME TIME TO SAVE UP MONEY. AS OF RIGHT NOW IM HAVING NO ISSUES OTHER THAN STITCHES POPPING THROUGH HERE AND THERE. I STILL HAVE SOME TIGHTENING AND PULLING IN MY STERNUM AREA. Updated on 26 Nov 2015: I'm currently in the process of getting a loan to pay for my implants. I was quoted already for a lift and silicon for $8500. I'd prefer not to have a lift. So I'm going with 400-500cc silicon under the muscle. Hopeing by choosing a larger implant will help fill out the loose skin I have from my weight loss. My stats is 30 years old, 143 pounds, 5'5 with 2 kids. Currently wearing a 36A/B cup. Updated on 16 Apr 2016: 9 months post op results. I'm up to 153 ???? So I'm trying to lose but I can't! I was 147 when I had surgery in July. The healing process has been tuff. I still have odd pulling or busting feeling in the lower middle area under belly button. But I'm still doing ab exercises at the gym. I just can't seem to lose any I'm def holding on to fluid and still swell every day. Trying to jump start my metabolism n get back to where I want to be in the 140's.
She is patient and does a great job. Spends time with you, explains other products to you what would work best for you and what is not right for you. I like her and I love getting a micro done. I always see immediate results. The staff is courteous, the office is clean. Very professional. Microderm is very affordable. Other services provided that I was not aware of and they keep a price list in their lobby
I had saline implants placed over the muscle 20+ years ago, about 350cc. About 2 months ago, I felt my breasts and realized they had deflated..BOTH! It was very upsetting because my appearance is very important to me and I couldn't even wear a bra. I should add that I look and act much younger than my age and I still want breasts! A little embarrassed about my age, I knew I had to have them them replaced. I had heard that Dr. Philip Grubb was the man to see for BA and made an appo intent for a consultation. Updated on 20 Nov 2014: Took one Percocet for soreness but really not too uncomfortable. Will post more pictures when I can remove the bra. Updated on 22 Nov 2014: Yesterday was not good..I felt very tired and irritable and the boobs weren't comfortable; actually the itching was the worst..I wonder if anyone else has experienced that. There is a LOT of bruising. Cant wait to jump in the shower! I will try to post pictures later today. Updated on 22 Nov 2014: Breasts are still a little uneven due to swelling of one..anyone else have this problem? I'm feeling much better today..guess the meds are out of my system. I only took 2 Percocet the first day and never needed the nausea meds. Updated on 24 Nov 2014: I typed this once, must not have posted first time.. hope it's not a repeat! I am 4 days post-op and I think swelling of my right breast in particular has subsided a little..still has a ways to go. Bruising is still bad but slowly improving. I feel great! Updated on 25 Nov 2014: Than God, my very swollen right breast is looking more normal. My followup appt is today. The swelling could have been avoided if I had iced properly...i should have iced more! Everyone remember that..ice, ice, ice! Updated on 2 Dec 2014: 12 days post op, I feel great. The problems I encountered are: severe itching..I'm allergic to the sterile strip for sure..doc removed them at 5 days. Swelling, particularly the right breast. I didn't ice properly, my fault..take heed. Also, getting the implant in that breast took a little more work. In the end though, I am very happy with the result. I experienced no pain, only a little soreness and absolutely no nausea. I went with 400cc over the.muscle and I realize that with my frame I could not have gone bigger. Dr. Philip.Grubbs did an amazing job and I highly recommend him for BAs. I will post pictures today. Oh! And my man LOVEs them!!
Love my profession working with young people. I am in very good shape and my face did not match my body and my energy and my clothes anymore. I had a full face CO2 laser skin resurfacing on a very low setting. My plastic surgeon called it a feather touch procedure. He did 2 passes and the result is awesome. It has been 6 weeks and besides a little redness here and there I am all healed and very happy with the results. No fillers except a little Botox in my forehead to promote better healing. All my sun damage, age spots and wrinkles around my eyes are gone and incredible nice looking skin appeared. So, so worth it! However it was a tough ride for two weeks.
I'm scheduled for a breast reduction in March 12, 2014. I've waited for many years to get this procedure, but I'm still becoming a nervous wreck going over the potential complications in my head and on paper. I've wanted a breast reduction since I was around 19 years old. At 5'3", I've fluctuated between 115 to 135 lbs, but always remained a 32DDD/E or 30G (depending on brand and style). My quality of life has definitely been affected. While I rarely have sharp pain, I have a near constant dull ache in my upper back and shoulders. For awhile I thought this was normal, but I have since found that most people do not have the type of constant pain I experience. I feel restricted when participating in physical activities, especially when I am wearing a daily rather than sports bra. I have some psychological issues around my breasts as well. With my peers I tend to be defined as the "big boobed" one who doesn't fit properly in most store-bought clothes and bras. My students (when I taught high school) were often distracted by them and I felt the need to cover up with multiple layers even in warmer weather. For these various reasons and I'm sure a few more I forgot, I asked my gynecologist about a reduction after my new better insurance kicked in last year. She directed me to my PS. I initially met my PS in September to discuss the possibility of a breast reduction, my candidacy and insurance coverage. Several weeks later, I found out that my insurance would cover the procedure. Yay! But I wanted to wait until after the holidays, then I couldn't get off work. Finally, now in March, I have time and bite the proverbial bullet. Today was my two week pre-op appointment with my PS and the hospital. He did some more measurements and concluded I could go for either a superior or inferior pedicle procedure. I believe that decision will be made the day of based on what he sees. If anyone else has had that option, please comment below. I signed all the paperwork, gave a blood sample and all the rest. I'm extremely nervous now. I simply can't believe that it is finally all happening, but still my mind is racing. It seems entirely unfair that I can't have booze at a time like this. [Pre-op images to be uploaded later.] Updated on 11 Mar 2014: So Sunday night, I was so nervous that I couldn't sleep, just kept moving. This was not a good thing for me or my husband. Therefore, he wanted me to take an ativan (prescribed by my PS for anxiety related to surgery). It was like a mild benadryl, but could have been worse. I slept somewhat better last night. Then, today (of all days) I began to feel a pain in my ear, like an infection had just set in. Well, damn. I took my lunch to visit the local urgent care where the doctor ruled out a bacterial infection, but said my lymph nodes were slightly bigger than usual, indicating a viral infection. My PS said he and the EMT would look me over tomorrow before continuing with surgery. As useless as it is, another ativan may be in order for tonight. Updated on 13 Mar 2014: Hey everyone! Everything went great. I'll have more of a update when I get home from the hospital. Updated on 13 Mar 2014: First off, anesthesia definitely gives you a warped sense of time. I'm told its Thursday, but I honestly couldn't tell you myself. Overall, I was at the hospital for more than 23 hours, but I probably didn't stay more than the 23 hours after the surgery was finished. Yesterday morning I arrived at the hospital around 9am to be preped for surgery, get a pregnancy test, and answer those "embarrassing" questions. An doc who speciallizes in ear, nose and throat issues came in to see me with my PS around 11am. He said the pain in my ear was likely caused by grinding my teeth at night rather than an infection of any kind. It was a relief and we could move forward with the surgery. My husband and I watched Tom & Jerry cartoons (what else is on at 11am?) and talked for a few more hours before I was moved to a pre-op area. We talked with the anesthesiologist, my PS, nurse and anesthesia nurse in that order. I had brought pictures of breasts (from here and other plastic surgery sites) which he was hesitant to look at. Turns out, he thought they were [RS bleep] rather that surgical photos. At that point he found them extremely helpful, especially where shape was concerned. He got our his sharpie and wrote "32DDD -> B" among other markings. I was wheeled into the operating room, gave my glasses to my husband, and lost consciousness. Getting to my hospital bed is really fuzzy, but I do remember them wanting me to participate more than I though I could. My husband was allowed in. He says I was extremely groggy and the little bit of broth made me nauseous. Closer to 8pm, I felt as if I could have the rest of my food. I husband went home and left me in the care of the nurses. I kept falling asleep and being woken up by a nurse coming in to check my blood pressure, temp and otherwise. They also gave me this breathing thing to exercise my lungs. I feel as though I need to bend over slightly, due to the tape. Hopefully, as things heal, that will be less of an issue. In the end he performed a superior pedicle and took out around 400 cc from each. x My left was slightly larger, so that had more taken out. First off, anesthesia definitely gives you a warped sense of time. I'm told its Thursday, but I honestly couldn't tell you myself. Turns out, he thought they were [RS bleep] rather that surgical photos. At that point he found them extremely helpful, especially where shape was concerned. In the office, I had about 15 oz of fluid on either side come out of my drains, which allowed the nurse to take them out. OMG that was super painful. I do not recommend. They are covered up in ointment and gauze at the moment. There is also gauze in the bra to soak up any fluid. So far, I've been watching TV, eating and walking around fairly normally. I haven't needed any extra pain killers since this morning's morphine IV. I'm very please with the results so far. My little hoodie already fits better than it did on Wednesday morning. Updated on 15 Mar 2014: Compared with actual sickness the recovery period has been fairly easy. The first day back I didn't do enough of my breathing exercises which resulted in a high (100 degree F +) fever. I took one of my pain meds and slept for far too long. After a call to my PS and a more regular breathing schedule my temperature has gone down to normal. My husband helped wash my hair and shower yesterday as well. Never underestimate the power of feeling clean. Today, I'm eating and using the bathroom as normal. I haven't needed any pain meds either. There is some soreness and mild bruising on the underside of each breast, right where the drains were. So, I'm not surprised by it. I'm still in my PS-provided bra. The ones I bought pre-op to anticipate a 32B to 32D reduction seem too tight. I've found that I'm much more sensitive to a tight band than I was and the girls don't just fall into bra cups like they used to. They seem amazingly self-supporting. I think I might have to go up a band size for comfort during my recovery period. Did anyone else have this experience? Updated on 22 Mar 2014: My first week has gone quite well. Other than my second day post-op, I haven't needed pain killers for anything reduction related. It's been very manageable. I was able to drive an go back to work on Wednesday and had my one week follow-up appointment on Thursday. My PS was very satisfied with how both breasts turned out and their healing so far. After clearing me for alcohol, Advil and mild activity that has no impact on my upper body, the nurse cut the suture knots and took off the surgical tape on my incisions. Honestly, I was a little disheartened by the look of the incisions on my right one, they look raised already. Hopefully care over the next few weeks will help with that. Unlike so on this forum, I do not have to go back to have any sutures removed. I do have to keep tape on the incisions at all times and replace it every 2-3 days. Also, to promote healing, I have to massage the incisions several times a day starting next week. Overall, I feel great. I've been able to wear some of my non-button down shirts. The difference pre- and post-op is just amazing. I feel "normal" like the shirts were designed for a body like I have now and I'm not showing off or being overtly sexual when I walk about in a pajama shirt that isn't an XL. It's incredibly freeing and I can't wait to be cleared to exercise come early May. Updated on 23 Mar 2014: Now that I've been healing, I realize how helpful it was to see photos of others pre- and post-breast reduction without bras. It helped me understand how significant the scars and healing can be. So, I've decided to post one pre-op and how I am today (11 days post-op) with and without the tape to cover my incisions. There is still some buckling of the skin. One fun thing I noticed is my chicken pox scar on my right breast is still there but slightly closer to the nipple now. Updated on 21 Apr 2014: It's been a few weeks now and I'm generally up and about like normal. I try to keep from picking up anything heavy, but otherwise life is back to normal. My clothes generally fit better and are thankfully much less revealing than they've been in more than a decade. ^_^ I've been dealing with the tape and massaging pretty well, but I'll definitely be happier when that is no longer necessary. I think it did a good job making the scars minimal though. I haven't experienced any unexpected pain (other than sensitivity around the incisions). Questions for those further along: 1) I have a slight bump at the end of my anchor incisions on my right side, kinda like a zit. I imagine this is a "dog ear". What are the chances of it going away on its own? 2) I am now the reverse of the asymmetry I had before the surgery. My right side is bigger, extends more under my arm and its nipple is lower. I really hope it goes away on its own, but what are my options if it doesn't? Are those typically covered under insurance? 3) I want to start exercising again. What were your experiences with beginning again after BR surgery? Updated on 3 May 2014: I had my 6 week exam and all is going well. I no longer have to use tape all the time and I am free to exercise provided I use a good bra. Still on 24-hour bra usage for the next 5-6 weeks, but that's fine. My PS prescribed a topical silicone ointment for my incisions which was custom formulated and shipped to me, which is a new thing for me. I'm used to going to the local pharmacy for all prescriptions. Hopefully, it will improve my scars Updated on 25 May 2014: I took some photos at 10 weeks post-op (May 21st). I've been feeling good with very little pain, just a lot of itching where my top layer of sutures are being rejected. When I have pain these tiny threads are almost always the cause. When I called my PS's office, they were very insistent that I come in that day to have them removed in case of infection. One that the nurse was able to remove was coming out underneath my left areola. I think it might have messed up the look a little bit. The others were either still attached a bit too much or under the skin. (What I thought was a dog ear is likely a knot near the surface of my skin.) I also went to VS at the mall, just to see. (I haven't been able to fit into their styles for a LONG time.) It was really nice to be able to fit into the styles they had. The breast lift part of my surgery has left me with "self-supporting" breasts that don't fit quite right into their bras yet, unfortunately. I question whether I will patron them given that they suggested I get a 34 band bra, despite the fact that I can fit into my old 32s and 30s again without pain. Overall, I am really satisfied with how the whole thing has turned out. While I haven't started exercising regularly yet (other than daily 1.5 mile dog walks), I am less hesitant to be active and social. And that is a significant change for the better. Updated on 27 Sep 2014: I still am happy with my decision to have the surgery. Exercise has been easier and I've grown accustomed to feeling comfortable in my "lounge bars" out of the house. The scars have slowly gotten lighter in color and most of the sutures have either dissolved or worked themselves out by now. The shallow spots (where it felt like there was a hole under the surface) have started to fill in as well. The ease of exercise has helped me lose weight. Inclusive of the the tissue surgically removed, I've lost 10 lbs this past year and I'm well on my way to ideal. One thing that has been difficult has been finding bars again, especially wired ones. I think the overall cup shape is different, more shallow than average. I didn't get lypo on the side which may be a part of it too. Maybe it's a problem I will just have to deal with from now on or talk with my PS about next month for my check up. Did any of you all have a similar problem?
Best thing I've ever done! Went for pre-op on 4/20/12 and had surgery 5/2 & doing great! Glad I stayed over night in hospital because I was kinda sick from going under and went to bathroom all night because of fluids they gave me. Really wish I would have done this years ago. Went from 42DDD to a C?? I'm still swollen and sore but was released to drive today. May have overdone it a bit, came home from running errands and was extremely tired. Gonna rest this week but feel good enought to go back to work but won't until next week. Stitches come out Friday. Was scared to do it, hate ANY pain of ANY kind, but this has been so easy for me. Pain in neck and shoulders subsided immediately. I recommend this to everyone but be sure you have a good doctor!!!!
Your question is very appropriate. Laser is a general term. There are many different types of lasers and what each one does is very specific. It is important to work with someone who is experienced and will guide you to the specific laser treatment that will address your concern. An outline of different lasers and what they do is beyond the scope of this venue. It is difficult for a patient to know what technology will address their concern best so they need to rely on the provider who treats them. Providers must resist the temptation to use a laser technology just because it is the technology that they own and not what the patient will benefit most from. Educate yourself and work with a reputable provider. Resurfacing is also a general term. It may involve fractional or full field treatment, it may be ablative or coagulative, it may be deeper or more superficial. Work with an experienced provider who will evaluate your skin, understand what result you want to achieve and how much down time you have. Together you can come up with a plan that will work for you. Look for a board certified plastic surgeon who is experienced in laser resurfacing.
From the photo it looks like you are very early in the post operative period. As the swelling resolves and the implant settles, the breasts will look and feel smaller and more like what you expected. Give it a few weeks and you will feel better. Around 6 months post op you will appreciate your final result.
Yes it is possible to lift small breasts without placing an implant. An implant will not "lift" a breast. Consider an implant if you want a larger breast. Based on your photos I am concerned that the side effects of the surgery (scars/ operated look) may not justify the benefits of a breast lift (modest improvement of nipple position and temporary skin tightening. High expectations in a patient with only modest "deformity" frequently results in a dissatisfied patient. Consult with a busy reputable plastic surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a division of the American Board of Medical Specialists have a full exam and consider risk/benefit ratio carefully.
Hang in there, this will heal. This area of the wound, at the "T" can be slow to heal. I agree with what your dr has suggested except I prefer to keep the wound dry, ie no antibiotic ointment. Use light dressing and wear your bra for support. A glass of wine will not have significant effect on your healing.
Painful scars after brachioplasty are not uncommon, but by four months, discomfort is usually minimal. Looks like you have a keloid scar, your body produced more scar than needed to heal the would I Would recommend you see your surgeon for advice and treatment.
