Answer: Pool I would suggest following your surgeon's advice about when you may get into pools. Your surgeon has seen your wounds and knows how well you are healing. I advise my patients to avoid bath tubs, hot tubs, and swimming pools for 4-6 weeks, and beach and lake water for 6 weeks. I usually tell each patient when she may go swimming based on how well her wounds are healing..

Answer: Pool or hot tub after breast augmentation? Thank you for your question. The reason to wait is because submerging the incision for prolonged periods of time can cause the incision to get macerated and it can actually break down. Usually by 6 weeks you are well healed and I let my patients get into the water. Always follow the instructions of your surgeon.

Answer: Why wait after 6 weeks to get into pools or hot tubs? Hi. Surgeons have different protocols and you should follow yours. I personally do not like pools or tubs becasue they are not hygenic like the ocean. Therefore, in my patients I ask for four weeks. It's all precautionary. Good luck Dr. PG

Answer: Getting into a pool or hot tub after breast augmentation. First of all, follow the instructions of your own surgeon. In my own practice I permit patients to get into a pool (although swimming is not allowed) as soon as a sutures are out and the incision is completely sealed. This is usually about a week.

Answer: Post Op Breast Augmentation One very good reason many surgeons ask their patients to wait 6 weeks before going into pools, jacuzzi's, spas, and the ocean is because bodies of water have bacteria that can increase the chance of infection if the wounds are not completely healed, which in turn can result in post-operative complications and a delay in healing. You should be fine to go into the pool, but I would highly suggest you don't do any vigorous activity (i.e.: pool sports, swimming, diving, etc.) You could very well compromise healing that way as well. My best suggestion is to contact the surgeon who did your surgery and discuss further. Have a great Holiday.
