I had micro needling performed with and an Endymed machine for the first time 48 hours ago. I was told that down time was minimal and not warned about the continued red skin I have and no mention was made of the rough skin that appeared about 18 hours after. I can still see needle marks on my face. From other pictures I've seen my situation doesn't seem normal. I had a series of photo facials, cool touch laser and IPL, 5 months ago. Did I not wait long enough to have the micro needling done?

Answer: Endymed Microneedling after Effects Hi! Thanks for your question. Actually, the wait timefor microneedling post photo facials would just be around a month. Treatmentprocedures such as Endymed Microneedling have expected after effects thatinclude redness among others. This is expected to occur and should go away inless than a day or 24 hours. However, it could also persist longer than thatshould your doctor use higher parameters. Higher parameters are often used toachieve better results. Microneedling is safe and has little to no sideeffects for most patients. However, you can expect some after effects such asyours since the procedure technically involves creating tiny injuries on theskin. The natural response of the skin is to heal these tiny injuries therebycausing some swelling and redness post the procedure. Others may evenexperience mild flare-ups of acnes and/or milia or small bumps under your skin. These should disappear on their own though. It may take as fast as less than aday to a couple of days. If these persist longer, you can visit your doctoragain or look for a second opinion. Make sure to consult only with boardcertified plastic surgeons. Hope this is helpful!

Answer: MicroNeedling Side Effects We’ve seen very nice results from microneedling for acne scars. In my practice, we use the SkinPen™ for microneedling, and the final outcome for acne scars can be very impressive. One of the benefits of microneedling in general is the minimal risk of side effects, particularly if you visit a board certified plastic surgeon who is well-versed in the technique. However, since the procedure does involve creating controlled micro-injuries to promote the skin’s natural healing response, it’s common to notice redness and swelling after a session. Some people may experience a mild acne flare-up, or tiny white bumps under the skin called milia. Any of these concerns should dissipate rapidly.
