I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist for after care. I recommend silicone gel with growth factors to promote healing. Redness can be improved with a combination of lasers (Excel V, ProYellow, VBeam), Aerolase, microneedling/prp, skin lightening, peels, and skin care. Sun protection is essential. Thanks for your question.  Unfortunately, this wound is like getting a very strong sal acid peel, and will take some time to heal.  It can continue to get more red over the next few days as some of the inflammation will continue.   Some initial things you can do are trying some cool compresses (ice packs) on the area for a few minutes a few times a day, use only plain Vaseline or Aquaphor rather than Neosporin (you don't need all the other ingredients in the Neosporin to help it heal, just the ointment will help), and you may want to keep a light non-stick dressing on the area for a few days.

In time, it should resolve and heal, but will take some awhile.  Sorry this happened to you!
