Thank you for your question. Both microdermabrasion and salicylic peels are superficial treatments, affecting the stratum corneum of the epidermis. As such, a series of 4-5 treatments will improve the quality and texture of the skin but are not powerful enough to address scars. Pore size is generally not improved with these treatments.
Results can be seen in 4 -6 weeks. If it is the first treatment, is possible that multiple treatments are needed depending on the depth of scars. Discuss other treatments options with your doctor for acne scars that may be more effective , ex laser .
I would suggest a ceramide moisturizer after a salicylic acid peel to reduce redness and dryness of the skin. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianLos Angeles
I would recommend a combination of Elevase ceramide cream and Melarase PM at this point to sooth the skin and reduce pigmentation. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianLos Angeles
A chemical peel does not always produce peeling, but may still produce results. I would wait 7-14 days, and if you do not see a results, go back to your MD to re-evaluate. Best, Anita Gill MD
