Getting a plastic surgery done when having the sickle cell trait is possible. However not all the patients with this condition should be treated the same way. Most people with sickle cell trait can be operated on without complications. It is important that you are well oxygenated and hydrated during and after your surgery to prevent any sickle problems. Of course you will need pre operative clearance from your primary care provider and get blood work ahead of time.
