It makes me very upset that you were not warned of this complication -- it says to me that there was a lack of completeness. Any surgery on the right forehead causes swelling that falls down (with gravity) and gets trapped in the eye area of that side. Hence, bruising and swelling around the eyes that can last for a few weeks. I suggest speaking to your physician about this. Best, Dr. Emer.
Most likely this can wait.It is common to have swelling lower down than the operative site. That makes sense - it's gravity. So when I remove a lipoma from the forehead (a common location) I tell the patient to EXPECT to have bruising and/or swelling below it, often resembling a "black eye" (actually, that's what it is - just not from direct trauma). It should get better on its own. Please contact your PS office in the am to touch base. In the absence of other symptoms you do not most likely need to be seen emergently (with the understanding of the limitations of medical advice being given via this forum).I hope that this helps and good luck,Dr. Alan EnglerMember of RealSelf100

Lipoma removal is typically a simple procedure and many general and sub-specialty surgeons are trained in it. Patients are typically referred to General surgeons and plastic surgeons for this. Some lipomas that are at cosmetically sensitive locations (face etc) should be removed by plastic...
Thigh lipomas present some challenges and patients should recommend that the lipomas are assessed by a pathologist to rule out other tumors. Our office specializes in lipoma removal surgery on the extremities. Recovery is relatively short. Raffy Karamanoukian MD FACS
