Lipoma removal recovery, is it normal to feel a shocking sensation on my back? (Photos)

I got a lipoma removed off my back on June 26th 2017, I have been healing good but I lately have been feeling a shocking feeling across my back like over my spine. Is this normal?

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  Occasionally with the trauma of surgery and associated swelling of your tissues local nerves can become irritated resulting in a shocking feeling.  This tends to spontaneously improve given enough time.  I would allow your results to mature over the next several months but be sure to inform your surgeon of your symptoms. Hang in there.

It's pretty common to have sensations such as these after this or any other surgery.  Based on your photos it looks like you're healing well and, if that's the case, these sensations should subside on their own.  That process could take several weeks or even months.  That being said, you should - of course - discuss this with your own plastic surgeon.I hope that this helps and good luck, Dr. Alan Engler
