Will I have more cleavage once my implants drop? (Photos)

Question

I had a breast augmentation 8 days ago- I had 286cc natrelle moderate profile implants bilaterally. My concern is once the implants drop, will I have more cleavage? Before I had my BA I was. 32a and my sternum width was not wide to begin with. Also there is a dent on the left bottom breast. Once the implants drop, will that dent fill out and go away? Any thoughts would help!

More cleavage when they drop?Congratulations on your recent breast augmentation surgery! It’s starting to come in very nicely! Yes, your cleavage will definitely be a lot better after things drop and fluff. In fact, your skin looks very tight and you were really small before the separation. I say that because I believe you’re going to actually need more time than the average patient to fully drop and fluff!Make sure you discuss these issues with your plastic surgeon, Dr. Aldo

Cleavage, or how close your breasts are positioned on your chest is determined primarily by where they are before your breast augmentation. There is a little bit of wiggle room in placing the implants but widely spaced breasts such as yours, cannot have kissing cleavage just with implants. However the proper bra can dramatically increase the appearance of cleavage. As your implants drop I do not think your cleavage will increase significantly. Conversely, the lack of roundness at the bottom of your breasts will likely improve as your implants settle. These changes postoperatively are to be expected. The final appearance of your breasts after augmentation will take many months to be apparent. I hope this allays some of your fears.

Thank you for your question. It is not uncommon to have swelling. Breasts may not heal at the same rate, causing one breast to appear different than the other. It can take up to 12 weeks for the implants to settle and you to see the final result. You are still early in the healing process, follow up with your board certified surgeon to address your concern. Great question.  I am assuming your implants were placed under the pectoral muscle by your photos.  With that said, cleavage is determined by your anatomy.  If you had tight cleavage before surgery, you will have that same tight cleavage after.  With the right bra, you will be able to push them closer together.  Your final result is 4-6 months down the road.  Small asymmetry in healing is to be expected, and lumps, bumps, and dents tend to relax and round out.  I hope this helps ease your mind!  Best wishes in your recovery.
