How common is it for women over 40 to have Rhinoplasty? & Is it a higher risk of death?

best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation.  It is very common to have rhinoplasty over the age of 40.  As long as you are in good health, this is a very safe surgery.  For a truly bulbous nose, a surgical rhinoplasty is better at reducing the size of the nose rather than a nonsurgical rhinoplasty.   Make sure you specifically look
at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery
performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.   The most
important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend
that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who
can evaluate you in person.

More pertinent for you, especially with a bulbous tip, is to be sure to read the section in the "Learn more" link on how to stay out of trouble while searching for a rhinoplasty surgeon. Rhinoplasty is an exquisitely difficult operation to get right, and you should only have surgery if you are able to make yourself very confident in your surgeon's skills. Read that page very carefully. The woman in the short video that I posted with this answer had a bulbous tip narrowed in her rhinoplasty.Finally, I usually make computer morphs when I'm answering questions like this, to show the changes that are possible for a nose with a rhinoplasty, but of course you didn't post any photos. Hello.  It's very normal to feel nervous about a rhinoplasty.  After all, you're talking about changing a central feature of your face and this can be scary.  But if you're in good health, a rhinoplasty is very safe and you'll be fine.  The most important thing is it sounds like you found a great surgeon.  As long as he's board certified, has experience with rhinoplasties and--very important--is someone you trust, you can expect a good outcome.  Take care.

 As long as you're in good health, there should be no issues related to anesthesia at age 40. We have performed many rhinoplasty procedures on patients in that age range. In our practice, we do not recommend liquid nose jobs for a variety of reasons and complications. The bulbous nasal tip is reduced with suture techniques and conservative cartilage removal. I think you must ask yourself why you want cosmetic surgery and why you you  self deprecate so much.  I would strongly advise you to consult with a Clinical Psychologist to explore these areas as they will be able to help you and will also be able to work out whether surgery can achieve the improvements in your everyday life you are looking for.  If you the decide you do want surgery you are likely to find it much more rewarding.  A good surgeon will have  strong professional links with a Clinical Psychologist and will work together with them to help you.

Dear becca70, It is very common for women your age to undergo rhinoplasty surgery. Preoperative tests are put into place to clear you for surgery and if you are cleared then you should have no concerns in the hands of an expert surgeon. Make sure that the procedure is being performed in a fully accredited operating facility and that you have an anesthesiologist that will be providing your anesthesia. This will help ensure your safety and comfort during the procedure. A liquid rhinoplasty will not help a bulbous tip and a surgical rhinoplasty would be needed to address these concerns. See an expert surgeon and have imaging performed to show you the proposed results.
