I’m a 49 y/o female with facial rolling and boxcar acne scars. I’m trying to find the best method to help greatly reduce or remove the scars. I’ve been to a few different drs and each one has a different recommendation making my decision difficult. I don’t want to waste money on treatments that don’t work as in the recent past with combo of micro needling and cool peels that didn’t work $1500 later. Can someone shed some light on what would be the most effective treatment(s) for me? Thank you
Answer: Acne Scars Acne scars are a tough problem to treat. In most cases these are scars that are deep, deeper than the skin surface that extend into the level of the deep dermis. This is important to understand because superficial treatments such as microneedling or peels would get deep enough to correct the problem. An aggressive ablative resurfacing (laser resurfacing) with facial fat grafting is a powerful combination treatment to correct acne scarring. In select cases of acne ice-pick scars, they may need to be excised and closed at the same time of laser / fat grafting.

Answer: Morpheus8 stimulates collagen to help with acne scarring Morpheus 8 is a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Acne Scarring -- Needs Combination of Subcision; Fillers Like Bellafill; Lasers Like Fraxel/Erbium/CO2; TCA Cross; Fractora RF "Acne scars need a combination approach for long-term improvement. Everyone has a unique pattern of acne scarring, and most people have various types of scars, so we create a tailored treatment plan for each patient. We often use: - Injectable fillers like Bellafill and Sculptra (with or without subcision) for atrophic, indented scars. - Subcision for depressed, tethered scars. - Vascular lasers like Yellow laser, Aerolase, excel V, BBL, or IPL for redness or thick acne scars. - Lasers such as Fraxel, Erbium, CO2, Halo or fractional radiofrequency (Venus Viva, Skinfinity, Morpheus, PiXel8, Fractora, Intensif microneedling RF) for textural issues and superficial scarring. - TCA CROSS and punch excision for deep ice pick scars and narrow box car scars. All lasers are combined with microneedling/PRP to improve the results and accelerate your healing time. Keep in mind that a personalized combination treatment by an expert physician will give you the improvement you're looking for. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist and acne scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer. "

Answer: Morpheus Hello! Morpheus would be a great treatment for your acne scars because it uses micro needling and radio frequency to help smooth the skin and build collagen. This treatment is great because your provider can assess what specific tip will be best to address your concerns. I recommend a resurfacing tip that will make the skin more even and help reduce the appearance of your scars. In addition to Morpheus you would benefit from a package of Core treatments that will also target the texture of your skin. These two treatments in conjunction will greatly improve your skin!!

Answer: Considering options Two treatments that you can consider are Morpheus8 which combines RF technology with microneedling. It is different than microneedling alone. The treatments are done in the office with topical numbing medicine. Multiple treatments are likely necessary to achieve desired results. The other option would be laser resurfacing. Visit with a board certified plastic surgeon to learn more.
