I had a microneedling appointment on Wednesday for stretch marks. I think I'm infected? (Photo)

Question

I had the microneedling procedure done and two days later doctor called me in an antibiotic and and anti nausea Medication. I had a low fever of 100.5 and burning sensation on my stomach. I was told to put bacitration on the phone kind but when I put the ointment on I feel it's worse. Should I let it air dry or what should I do? This was a step I was doing to avoid a tummy tuck but I may have just scarred myself much worse.

Hello - thank you for your photos and questions. Redness, swelling, and even some bruising is completely normal post microneedling treatment. However, your photos look a bit extreme, and it sounds (and looks) like you have an infection. Best option would be to go back to your provider or even an urgent care to get yourself on some antibiotics ASAP.

Thank you for your photos. Microneedling of the skin can produce temporary redness and burning of the skin which usually lasts no more than 2-3 days. It is up to the provider to make sure that the needle length and method of application is appropriate for the area that is being treated. Microneedling settings should be chosen as to avoid causing open wounds or removal of the top layer of skin. It does appear that your skin reaction is not typical for microneedling. A fever is not normal in any situation and warrants a follow-up visit and immediate contact with your physician. H
