Recommendations for rhinoplasty. What can I do to address my bulbous tip and add more definition? (photo)

Surgical rhinoplasty can help improve the shape of your nose. The tip can be narrowed, defined and rotated up in he surgery. It is better to consult a facial plastic surgeon and discuss how your nose can look after surgery.

Hello! Thank you for your question.From the photo you have provided I can say that you have a very bulbous and downward tip. Also you have thick skin due to your skin type the healing process might be 1,5 year so you need to be patience about it. However, with the rhinoplasty surgery you would get what you desired for your nose when you look at the mirror. If you can provide photos with better lighting, from the side of your face and 1 meter away I would be able to make a proper evaluation. Hi @janelle2016! I recommend seeing an expert rhinoplasty specialist for an in person examination. There are several options for you that can be determined after examination. A rhinoplasty in my opinion is one of the most difficult procedures to perform. In my practice, I utilize piezosurgery. Piezosurgery is a more gentle technique that allows for greater precision. Less bruising and swelling is common with Piezosurgery. In a typical rhinoplasty, a hammer and chisel technique is performed leading to more inadvertent fractures. Best of Luck, Dr. Nima!

I would recommend an open rhinoplasty with cartilage reduction and tip suturing to address the tip. This can be discussed much further in person or an online consultation.

It’s hard to give a complete answer given the limitations of your phot but yes, a rhinoplasty would help improve the convexity of your tip cartilages. Essentially they would be reshaped to give your tip a less rounded appearance and improve its definition. Schedule a formal consultation with a facial plastic surgeon to discuss your goals.

A bulbous tip, along with dorsal hump or midline deviation, is one of the most common reasons to seek a rhinoplasty. So there are similarly common technique for addressing this with the most straightforward being the cephalic trim. The lower nose is made up of cartilages, the lower of which may be trimmed to create a more slim and low-profile nasal profile. Another element that may be involved in your procedure is columellar reduction to achieve greater balance between the middle lower base and side bases, or ala, in your nasal profile. Lastly, depending on the width of your nose and your happiness with that, a narrowing from the anterior view may also help contribute to a less prominent nasal harmony.

Your nasal tip is dominated by a prominent, and what appears likely to be, strong cartilage complex. This is good news. Unlike others, whose nasal tip is composed of thick soft tissue that is difficult to change, cartilage can be reliably and predictably modified in shape and proportion to create a pleasing tip using modern structural rhinoplasty techniques.

This is typically a surgery under general anesthesia, and while the majority of swelling will be gone in about 2 weeks, there is some degree of swelling that can last about a year.
